The stupid Mayor of New York City looking over the city while overlooking the crises escalating in his final months in office. The lenses in that thing are rose-colored.

The Blaz got a little cranky during his media availability on the day it was reported  that shootings went up nearly 170% in the month of April, along with a 30% rise in overall crime, coming off multiple days when total shootings passed the double digits. Despite arrests for guns that exceeded the percentage of bullets flying in the streets, the NYPD’s dogged efforts to ameliorate gun violence and salvage de Blasio’s recovery for all of us for him have been underwhelming.

And despite the NYPD’s concerted effort to stop bias violence against Asian people, it continues to happen on a daily basis. While sexual assaults and rapes that went up over 320% from last yearand the continuing rise of auto theft and burglaries continue to get overlooked.

Subway violence also continues to be a consistent scourge as ridership has not gone up as expected because of commuters legitimate fears of being victimized of random attacks or muggings, despite the statistical dip in crimes and a deployment of 500 cops on the rails and The Blaz’s incessant and incredible assurances of how safe the subway is as he desperately cites the total stats in defiance of the facts underground. Mentally ill vagrants neglected by de Blasio’s administration also continue to play a factor in low ridership, which the longest interim NYC Transit president Sarah Feinberg had to prove herself by riding the uptown express train occupied by a disheveled man yelling for no reason at no one in particular.

Responses to all of these crises have been defiantly dismissed by The Blaz, some are even obnoxiously obtuse. Like when a woman called Brian Lehrer’s ask the mayor segment on his show and vividly and shakenly described a gang related shooting that happened on her block as she and her daughter dodged bullets after they stepped out of her car steps away from their home, the Blaz reverted to his city recovery and revisionist pandemic history talking points, which he also did when a tourist got shot by a hotel in Midtown west. The only action the Blaz has taken is to remake and remodel a gun violence reduction program from last summer that didn’t make a dent at all when it was implemented.

With this crime wave troika of gun, subway and xenophobic violence, the Blaz continues to look to and rely on a convenient nemesis he calls the Perfect Storm of COVID, even though all this crazy shit is happening during his recovery for all of us. The only perfect storm that is devastating this city is his daily hurricane of lame excuses.

Brooklyn

Evidence is pictured after a shooting on Montauk Avenue and New Lots Avenue in Brooklyn, New York on Monday night.

This was found on the street except a child’s artistic expression in chalk

In Bed-Stuy, a five-year-old girl got struck on her head by a stray bullet while she was about to draw on the sidewalk with chalk as a man emptied his clip firing in her direction down the block and missed his target. It took a month to catch the perp and a judge wisely levied a bail for 100 large on him.

Also in Bed-Stuy, a man got into a shootout with cops on the grounds of the Sumner Houses.

Again in Bed Stuy, a man got shot to death in a fusillade of bullets inside a stairwell in apartment building at the Tompkins Houses.

And again in Bed-Stuy, a man got shot in the shoulder inside a parking lot.

And again in Bed-Stuy, a man shot another man while he was sitting in a parked car.

And again in Bed-Stuy, a 12-year-old boy got shot in the chest while standing on the street and getting caught in the crossfire between two gangs blasting at each other. The victim’s grandmother describes the streets in the once ballyhooed by the gentrification industrial complex media apparatus as a hot town as kill or be killed environment.

And again in Bed-Stuy, a man rolled up to a 17-year-old girl on his bicycle and punched her in the face, robbed her wallet and rolled away.

And again in Bed-Stuy, a woman walked into a bodega and destroyed a surveillance video monitor after a worker refused to give her money and then threw a mop at him after she bizarrely requested to open the store’s ATM machine. When the cops arrived to detain her, she ripped a wiper from a patrol car and then challenged the cops to taze her, which they did as she tried to flee but those shitty weapons had no effect on her. She was subsequently charged and released without bail (of course).

In Brownsville, a man went to a birthday party for his and his girlfriend’s 9 year-old daughter at her apartment and then he shot her and her two daughters to death using two guns as his daughter hid in a closet and watched the mass murder happen while peeking through the door while managing to call 911. The man then went outside and committed suicide by shooting himself a few blocks away from the slaughter. The man previously served an 8 year sentence for shooting a man to death who was trying to break up a fight involving his relatives on a Halloween night when he was 18 years old.

Also in Brownsville, at the Livonia Ave. Station, a man committed suicide by jumping in front of the arriving L train.

And again in Brownsville, a man got pulled over by the cops for speeding and then he hit the gas as a police lieutenant was about to question him and dragged him on the street going in reverse and escaped. The gangbanger had a good reason to jet being a murder suspect for a killing in Queens 3 months earlier.

After nearly killing a police officer, he continued to show his appreciation to the state for letting him bounce without bail despite the attempted murder charge and also the city for recent charges for a robbery he committed, as the bastard  broke into a house of a 66-year-old woman in Edgemere and attempted to hide out there. He then walked to the beach and found a luxury car parked by nearby luxury towers as the owner left it running and jumped inside and stole it and tried but got caught by Nassau P.D. going to his father’s house to hide out.

Again in East Flatbush, a young man got shot in the leg while crossing the boulevard and another young man got shot in the chest on the street less than a 1/8 mile away and another young man got shot a man in the stomach about a 1/4 mile away from that shooting. In Sheepshead Bay, a crazed man grabbed a bouquet of flowers and flung them into the street and then he shoved a 77-year-old man to the pavement as he was shopping for produce. Also in Sheepshead Bay, four men jumped a man as he was walking home and one of the thugs stuck him up at gunpoint, then they took his keys and stole his car and drove it to Jamaica and abandoned it there. In Bushwick, two men on a street corner got shot at from a man riding on the back of a motorcycle driven by his accomplice.

In Park Slope, where Mayor de Blasio owns two low-taxed homes, a woman ran up behind her ex-girlfriend and shot her point blank at the back of her head as she was about to walk into a bodega. The victim collapsed on the corner and died instantly. The shooter’s motive reportedly stemmed from an abusive relationship with the victim.

Cops deployed to monitor a protest arrived and chased the perp, who horribly ditched his gun by a pile of trash during the pursuit, and arrested him around the corner from the incident. The perp was found to be on the loose avoiding warrants for armed robberies he committed with his brother in North Carolina.

A bike agitprop blog commanded by a intolerant bike zealot gentrifier from Brooklyn, his few minion followers on the bike blogs comment thread and two journalists from Gothamist hilariously have accused the NYPD of orchestrating this sabotage even though Amazon Prime delivery service has laid predominance over all retail on the city. Especially in high rent tower pestilence plagued Northwest Brooklyn. Wonder why they refuse to put the onus on a tech monopoly that has usurped retail shopping, killed small businesses and notorious for overworking and dehumanizing their employees?

L O fucking L…

And being a fucking moron, I’ll do this even though I also possess a full banana clip. I will preface doing all this stupid shit by posting a video flashing a fan of money and then walking on the streets saying how much I hate New York City.

Then I will come up with a weak ass defense claiming that I didn’t know what New York’s gun laws were, assuming that possessing and toting a military grade hand held war machine in an urban area (or anywhere) is normal.  Enjoy Rikers kid while it’s still there.

Just for one day, there was someone dumber in NYC besides Mayor Bill de Blasio.

During the last two months of the lockdown of the five boroughs and with a sizeable amount of cops stricken by COVID-19, home and commercial property burglaries and vehicle theft shot up in massive numbers in May as murders and robberies show higher incremental ticks. Crime in the subway made significant gains even though service is cut and commuting went down nearly 90%. Shootings went up by a lot (especially in Brooklyn) which shouldn’t be surprising considering you can be more than six feet to hit your target. Drag racing also went up in the last 3 months as the city was mostly barren from mass isolation.

As May began Governor Cuomo gave the order to kick the homeless off the trains including banning every other commuter from the subway at 1 am until the clock struck 5 so the trains can get thoroughly cleaned. Which had no effect with the homeless who prefer to sleep during the morning and noon hours as the lower paid contractors deftly cleaned around them.

And that’s only a sample of NYC’s Spring of chaos and disorder…

Manhattan

In the East Village, a man and a woman got confronted by a group of cops and were tackled to the sidewalk and handcuffed for not following city pandemic protocols well enough for them. A man witnessing the senseless and arbitrary detainment walked over to the corner and was immediately faced with one of the cops who cursed him out and challenged him to fight while pointing his taser at him. The cop then punched the man in the face and took him down to the pavement, placed his knee on his neck as his partner cuffed him while both of them were not wearing their masks properly.

This excessive use of force went on at precisely the exact time when hundreds of rich young people were sitting on the grass at a pier in the West Village were violating those same protocols but not wearing masks and sitting close to each other.

The woman is now afraid to go in the street by herself, even though the NYPD is biggest police force in the world. Maybe Shea can send one of his CTU cops in full body armor and AR-15 to walk her to the doctor’s office.

The NYPD then sent their CSI unit there on the suspicion that the food poisoning was intentional but the case was dismissed because the workers mistakenly put the shake mix in too soon after they cleaned it.

It still didn’t stop some shithead lieutenant and panic tweeting from the NYPD unions from spreading a bullshit lie about the “incident” and trying to use cancel culture to target a business and discredit a social justice movement. But embarrassingly worse is treated this with such severity that Shea’s NYPD had two cops guard the weaponized frosty beverage.

Which leaves the Rockaways clear for #SurferPrivilege domination.

The George Floyd Protests

Cops clashed with the protesters immediately at the start of the demonstration at Union Square as 200 people tried to march forward and cops randomly arrested attacked anyone after people in the crowd threw bottles, bricks, a garbage can and one attempted to steal a taser. The protest moved downtown and the clashes resumed. Over 70 protesters were arrested.

At Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the demonstrations against systemic police brutality reached critical mass as thousands of people assembled by the arena right in the face of the NYPD standing in battle formation, there to supervise and maintain law and order. Which they violated immediately with their robotic misinformed warnings accusing people of illegal assembly and followed with charging the crowds with naked aggression.

When the NYPD tried to move all who were detained to the precinct stations, a bus driver refused to assist them in solidarity with the movement stemming from an order from his transit union.

With the marchers heading towards Flatbush, a cop accompanied by a lieutenant badgered a young woman in front of him to move and smacked the phone out of her hand. When she walked past him again, the cop viciously pushed her to the ground close to the curb where she could have cracked her skull.

More clashes continued in Manhattan and Brooklyn as the demonstration arrived at Foley Square. Protesters amassed in thousands taking over the road on West Side Highway in Manhattan and marched in Staten Island where Eric Garner was tortured and killed by a cop on the street 6 years earlier in July. NYPD mass mobilization and aggression against the protesters by Barclays Center fueled the continuing chaos on the streets as cops sprayed chemicals on protesters which included two State Assembly Officials marching in solidarity with them. Protesters volleyed back projectiles at the NYPD miltia, hitting a cop in the face with a brick. Over in Brooklyn, demonstrations split up into divisions in different towns as tensions continued to get heated between the NYPD and the protesters as cops administered pepper spray throughout the crowd while a cop walked up to a man, pulled down his mask and sprayed mace in his mouth.

As the people continued to protest peacefully on the streets, the NYPD continued to disrupt their demonstration with naked aggression by shoving people and hitting them with clubs and even resorting to weaponizing their patrol cars to disperse the crowd, remarkably deploying two SUV’s down a street as people were marching, culminating in a standoff as people threw traffic cones and garbage at one while the backup SUV patrol car barreled through a group of people in on the road and then first one hit the gas and pushed a group down holding a barricade up as they tried to protect other protesters.

Although saboteurs continued to mingle among the masses of demonstrators. At one point, protesters amassed in front of a Target department store to prevent people from looting it and one of the demonstrators noted that they were undercover cops involved in inciting the chaos. A woman from upstate New York got caught trying to ignite a van with a molotov cocktail with four cops inside but failed.

As darkness fell on the evening following the protests and the NYPD battalions went home, the first night of looting of upscale brand stores spread out across lower Manhattan while rioting and destruction commenced in Brooklyn as patrol cars were vandalized and burned including a police van that was set ablaze by a molitov cocktail thrown from a van by a woman as her boyfriend drove, both of them lawyers currently unemployed. The man holds a chair on a community board in East New York. 33 cops got injured as well as hundreds of protesters who got arrested during the melees. At the end of the day, Mayor de Blasio praised the NYPD for “acting appropriately”

After that statement the following day de Blasio’s and Shea’s NYPD did some positive optics and afterwards got more hyper-assertive and reckless as they obstructed streets in Flatbush to cluster protesters and sent patrol helicopters to fly low to produce wind to throw them off balance and wailed on protesters around the Barclays arena later in the evening, even a reporter. A march in Harlem went awry when some people protesting threw blunt objects at a patrol van that was still occupied by a cop. He got help from other protesters who protected him from the people looking to foment unrest.

A clash in Union Square nearly got fatal as cops smacked protesters with batons and a man hit a lieutenant officer from behind with a brick, compelling a cop to draw his gun on the crowds which clear the street instantly. The saboteur looters continued to follow up the peaceful protests in Manhattan as they tore into the Macy’s flagship store and broke into and robbed more high end brand stores and chain pharmacies as they trailed marches down Broadway from Midtown to Soho, the latter area where the most organized plundering and destruction took place. In Greenwich Village, a cop got hit by an SUV full of crooks as they were making a getaway from a store they robbed. Although there were arrests, there were no sights of a mass formation of cops lined up on the streets like they were deployed against the protesters.

A few days after de Blasio praised his police force for their “appropriate” response to the protests and his mind blowing defense of his police departments weaponization of SUVs to use as cowcatchers to move protesters off the streets, news spread that his daughter Chiara got arrested while she was participating in the protests that involved throwing debris at his NYPD. Then the SBA police union released Chiara’s mugshot, and the Blaz kicked off his morning COVID19 update “media availability” by demanding his constituents to stay home and not exercise their rights to speak out and assemble in public so they don’t contract the novel virus. Even though de Blasio’s NYPD didn’t even enforce the pandemic protocols when rich young White people were congregating in parks in high area median income areas.

Concerned about the clashes and violence on the streets from the cops and protesters and the wanton looting from thieves exploiting the movement for materialistic reason and following a planned riot at the Queens Center Mall in Rego Park that got thwarted by the NYPD, Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio announced an 11 p.m curfew and doubled the amount of cops deployed for the demonstrations and opportunity crimes to 8000. Hours later, President Trump mentioned in his talks with state governors that their police forces have to show dominance over the protesters.

Despite Trump’s vile comment, thousands still came out in droves and marched in peace and despite the curfew announcement it wrought the worst destruction and chaos of the citywide unrest so far as the looting and violence spread out in three boroughs even after the clock struck 11 as cops received the brunt of the beatings even with more of them on the street.

In Manhattan, looters tailing protesters down Broadway from Midtown on down the Flatiron District to Union Square tore up the wood panels, bashed windows and pillaged high end stores and chain pharmacies with ease, stealing upscale brand merchandise, jewelry, lux skateboard culture wear and even cough syrup and laxatives.  Small businesses like craft beer stores and smoke shops were not spared by the opportunistic thieves.

Protesters witnessing the bedlam behind them tried to stop them to no avail as they noticed how organized the criminals methods were, which was glaringly apparent at the second night of the pillaging of uber upper class Soho. As luxury SUV’s rolled up on the cobblestone streets followed by street urchins on foot and riding on app-share Citibikes and Revel scooters as they all made off with millions of dollars of merchandise without a single cop in sight. Most of the smash and grab heists went smooth except when one person got shot during the festival like plundering mayhem. Ubers and Lyfts were also utilized by the thieves which led de Blasio to order their app services shut down as well.

Riots also spilled over into the Fordham section in the Bronx. One cop got jumped by three men and barely got up as they fled. As a cop stepped out of his patrol car for only a second when a hit and run driver plowed into him with enough force to knock him 20 feet ahead into a street intersection.

Stunningly, people were rapidly wrecking shops, robbing merchandise from small businesses forced to closed because they weren’t essential to be open during the pandemic and setting fires all over the streets as cops deployed to stop the mayhem stood fast and let the rioting continue and let the Bronx burn again. This horror show was a total contrast to battalion of cops made to supervise and intimidate the protests calling for the end of systemic abuse of authority and race based brutality enabled by police precincts in the United States. Because said battalion remained squarely on the protesters.

The last 5 days saw over 1700 people arrested. As for the looters, 100 of them got arraigned and were instantaneously released because of the failed bail reform policy. While the protesters languished for 24 hours inside dirty cells without water or PPE’s as cops were guarding and monitoring them without wearing masks.

The next day Mayor de Blasio decided to ground the city for a week and advanced the curfew to 8 p.m. ending on Sunday which happened to be the day before the five boroughs were deemed safe to reopen in the “New Normal” under the existential threat of the pandemic as he lectured his constituents exercising their first amendment rights as if they were his daughter. Which did not deter the masses one bit. Thousands of protesters organized to use the first night of the early curfew to march to Gracie Mansion as they amassed on East End ave with chanting and silent vigils (in congruence with the last minutes and seconds of George Floyd’s life) as de Blasio’s NYPD surrounded his house and eight other blocks of the Upper East Side, blanketing it like a fort for the thin-skinned mayor.

With protesters still on the streets hours after curfew heading downtown, a NYPD battalion guarded the Manhattan Bridge as a critical mass of protesters were walking on it and got kettled by cops coming from both sides, leaving them clustered and trapped stories above the East River.

While uptown in Manhattan hundreds of cops were chasing demonstrators on the streets. Although the cops locked down Soho after the organized looting of the area, other thievery went on in some other areas of the city with less police presence. de Blasio tried to use this progress as an opportunity to push his narrative of denial but was cockblocked by a video of a bunch of looters dancing over the damages they left behind and then gave effusive (or is it elusive?) praise of the cops restraint again on the bridge while another police militia was beating up protesters on the west side downtown the minute the clock struck 8.

The NYPD was chasing and beating the shit out of anyone who was outside and that included the press. A reporter from Huffington Post was so livid about the violence and oppression dispensed by the cops of which he was a recipient of that he dropped all impartiality and wrote a scathing diatribe of his experience which landed him in jail. Riot cops surrounded and blatantly oppressed two reporters from the Associated Press from covering the dispersing and the physical abuse of the demonstrators, yelling at them to go home while making it difficult for one of them to get back in his car.

Taking inspiration from Donald Trump to enforce domination on the people they serve and protect, cops ambushed a bunch of protesters riding their bikes and assaulted them with billy clubs, ripped off their bikes from their hands and ganged up on professional nurses trying to help the people they brutalized on 3rd Ave. in Midtown; a block away from a NYPD precinct on 51st as they were obviously trying to “go home”.

The NYPD militia in Brooklyn blocked the Manhattan Bridge from protestors looking to go back home to the city and then charged at them as they retreated down Candam Plaza by swinging their clubs and yelling exhortations to go home as if they were sentinels. The cops then trapped them on the street using their patrol cars and unmarked cars and proceeded to violently arrest as many protesters that they could grab.

As protesters were leaving after another day of demonstrating at the Mayor’s house, the NYPD sentinels stalked them and attacked, chasing them on the street and arresting over 60 people on orders from Chief Monihan.

In Whitestone, a group of protesters hanging signs honoring Black Lives Matter and George Floyd on a street overpass were confronted by two men who were offended by their solidarity against police brutality. After one man tore down one of their signs the day before, they were badgered then attacked by a psychopath who tried to run them over with his car then ran out and chased them with a large four blade contraption attached to his arm and chase them with it while accusing them of throwing stuff at his car.

Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio continued their obtuse insouciance with tone deaf statements/endorsements of the NYPD’s barbarity enforcing the stupid curfew. Even though they could easily find out about the violence by going on social media or asking a reporter.

New York City’s police states war with the people started off with a bang with a protest in Brooklyn as Mayor de Blasio finally got to address and face his constituency after avoiding them since the protests started a week ago. (And arriving 20 minutes late with his wife as is wont of Mayor Big Slow)

Naturally, the crowd booed and cursed him out and turned their backs to him as he spoke for about five minutes as he skulked away with his wife that he’s trying to promote for the Brooklyn Borough President role. The pissant Mayor got all huffy after that during his media availability he got paternal and gave a stern warning (whining) to his aggrieved constituents to stop protesting on the streets as if they were his daughter, but mostly because he can’t defend the hyper-repressive actions of the blue wall of ultraviolence.

After an entire afternoon of peaceful marches populated by thousands, the clashes resumed in the town of Mott Haven in the Bronx as riot cops and silly looking body armored cops on bicycles preemptively kettled protesters assembled on the street many minutes before the clock struck eight and then proceeded to strike at them when the curfew was on. A Gothamist reporter unequivocally described the police escalation as a deliberate trap.

Under the command of Chief Monihan, the guy who feigned solidarity at a park by kneeling with other activists, the police continued to cluster the crowd as if there wasn’t still a novel virus pandemic around then actually had a massive horn go off when the clock struck 8 which instantly triggered the NYPD militia into attack mode. While every cop illegally covered their badge numbers with black tape to avoid identification during their organized brutalizing (basing it on their exploitation of fellow cops who died of COVID19 as a memorial), they clubbed and dragged to the ground anyone in their sights, saving most of their brutality for organizers and legal observers and collaring indiscriminately anyone they were able to grab including photographers, medics helping the injured, bystanders not moving fast enough to “go home” and people not even protesting and actually trying to get home from work.

According to Commissioner Shea, this premeditated and coordinated attack on free assembly was based on a gun possession arrest and two people detained carrying weapons of disruption in backpacks that weren’t even close to were the demonstration took place without incident in the afternoon.

A total of 250 citizens were arrested and locked up and cramped in cells together without PPE’s and were forbidden to be visited by their lawyers. While Governor Cuomo finally overcame his obliviousness after seeing a 75-year-old man get pushed to ground by cops in Buffalo, de Blasio maintained his insouciance by blowing off Offenhartz’s account of the rioting cops by saying he had eyes over there who saw a different “reality”. Although it turned out that some of those eyes were city hall aides that also got kettled by the police and somehow de Blasio’s own lying eyes didn’t acknowledge their accounts.

In the Upper West Side in Manhattan, deBlasio’s NYPD’s random and obligatory violence and arrests of protesters violating curfew continued even though it was still light out as if they were making a collective statement themselves, as they dragged a man out of his building and stopped and detained a livid and confused app-food delivery guy, accusing him of not working (he was).

The NYPD’s new and unconstitutional tactics to dominating the public extended to Crown Heights as a bunch of residents were having an bbq party outside their building when dozens of cops in riot gear rolled up and ordered them to get inside their homes because they were technically breaking curfew. Despite everyone complying or trying to comply, the cops unleashed extreme aggression and pushed them back into their building and started rumbling with them inside the vestibule and the hallways. Taking the curfew enforcement to purely paternalistic, fascistic and even idiotic new levels.

While this idiot was trying to break into people’s apartments and close their door while he was still inside, the other cops commenced swinging their billy clubs and cuffing people as backup riot cops stood in a hallway exhibiting a dystopian presence but mostly to prevent other residents to witness how the cops are conducting their arrests of their neighbors.

On Friday, the NYPD continued their attempts to dominate the streets throughout the day during various demonstrations but were held back by elected officials showing up to witness the confrontations and keep the peace. But later in Crown Heights, cops stalked, chased and assaulted demonstrators as they were going home.

The people still came out in droves to protest again on Saturday and de Blasio’s NYPD stood pat and yielded the streets to them. Naturally, no violence occurred except when one psychopath weaponized his car and jumped the curb nearly hitting a bunch of people but clipping a person on a bicycle.

de Blasio then decided to end the curfew that night. Over 2000 people were arrested, nearly hundreds of cops injured and dozens of vehicles destroyed, tens of millions of dollars of merchandise stolen and property damaged in the week of that policy failure. While cops were busy oppressing the public from demonstrating in solidarity and the free press from reporting their arbitrary enforcement of the curfew during the biggest week of unrest in NYC in this century as murders, auto thefts, shootings and burglaries went up and has continued their rapid upward trajectories in the aftermath.

And now you can add illegal fireworks to this list, as explosions in the sky and on the ground have been going off from sundown to sunset for two weeks as thousands and thousands of 311 and 911 calls were made by citizens demanding action from the police and receiving bupkis while patrol cars roll by as mats of firecrackers, m80s and mortars get ignited by anarchic revelers.

And this summer has only just begun. Plus we are still under siege of COVID19 as the streets are still amply deserted and stores are still boarded up. Although the existential threat of a novel virus that’s still infecting dozens of people daily in America did not the deter rich predominantly white hipsters and millenials from returning to their favorite bars a week after the curfew ended, as they opportunistically imbibed their open containers of booze and obstructed sidewalks with impunity in high median income areas like in the East Village with careless blissful oblivion.

When it was only a month ago that de Blasio’s NYPD was exposed for segregating their pandemic protocols by only excessively enforcing it in predominantly Black and Brown lower median income earning areas mostly in the North Bronx and South and East Brooklyn.

Heat map of the five boroughs broken down by precinct that shows areas where summons have been issued. The more summonses issued, the darker the color. Brooklyn and the Bronx have had the most summonses. The 69th precinct in Canarsie had the most.

When questioned about the rash of viral video footage of the cops violent enforcing of the guidelines and the focused targeting of few districts, de Blasio obstinately responded that the NYPD used proper restraint. A statement he would make only three weeks later after seeing the NYPD’s heinous decision to deploy two marked SUV’s to run over protesters in an deadly attempt to disperse them.

While the protests continue peacefully, the citizenry and the cops still remain on edge and at loggerheads. While laws are being enacted to finally clampdown on systematic police abuse (though incrementally), there’s still people on the streets  still yelling “fuck the police” and for their extinction.

Truly historic but dystopian times happening now in New York City…

…your city

Vision Zero Study Enables Cellphone Junkies Habitual Obliviousness

093.jpg

In A New York, New York State Of Mindless

Something crawled out of the bowels of Mayor de Blasio’s Department Of Transportation not long ago that shouldn’t bode well for this city. Or state. Or this nation and planet and society at large. It is an incredible and retarded study about how citizens habitual cellphone usage while walking on these busy streets is not hazardous.

Seriously guys and dolls:

NY Daily News

Texting, checking email, Googling that restaurant across the street or just looking for your destination on a map factored in just two pedestrian deaths from 2014 to 2017, says a report by the city Department of Transportation.

Those two deaths were just a drop in the bucket compared to the 534 pedestrians who were killed on city streets during the four-year span.

One of the cell phone users killed in a car crash during the study period was texting, and the other was reaching for a device dropped in the street, DOT researchers found.

“DOT found little concrete evidence that device-induced distracted walking contributes significantly to pedestrian fatalities and injuries,” the eight-page report states.

A better way to improve pedestrian safety and save lives is cracking down on dangerous drivers, the DOT report says.

As smartphones rapidly grew in popularity, state lawmakers in 2017 passed a law requiring the DOT to look into “distracted walking.”

Though the DOT found the legislature’s concern was a non-issue, its report noted that the city is campaigning to encourage young people to be alert as they cross the street.

But the real problem, the DOT said in the report released Friday, is speeding cars.

“The best way to address distracted walking, and all forms of distraction, is by creating a road environment focused on speed management — where vehicles are traveling at a safe speed so that crashes can be avoided, and when crashes do occur they are not fatal or severe,” the report said.

Not even not much of hazard. Nothing to fear or fret to repress you from typing vapid texts you can just verbally tell someone on the actual original function of the cellphone. No symbolic meteor like a car or a bike, a street gang or a yelling crazed derelict coming your way crashing your social network universe feeding as you post a photo on Instagapchat or troll some message on Twitter, Facebook or Reddit. Zero.

Funny I mentioned zero, because this report was written in association with de Blasio’s ineffective Vision Zero program for safe streets that has not prevented zero deaths or accidents at all.

The report itself is incomplete since it spuriously compares cellphone accident data with regular vehicular and pedestrian accidents and looks like it was gathering dust somewhere for a while since it was completed in 2017 and the data compiling cellphone usage accidents only goes up to 2015 and despite the low amount of fatalities tabulated, they actually went up. But it does point out cellphone addicts utter irresponsibility feeding their texting and continuing scofflaw pedestrian habits by not paying attention to signals. It also devotes a few pages to what the city does best, producing PSA videos, awareness campaigns and vibrant social events to promote awareness, which are the only thing this city seems to excel at.

The reason for releasing this study 2 years later is not only because of the usual delaying of information concerning the citizenry that has been expected of the de Blasio administration but because of the city’s redesigning of the streets to “calm” vehicular traffic. Everything about this study puts the onus of responsibility on the driver instead of the cellphone junkie who can’t put the goddamn phone down for even a second. Imagine you’re driving approaching a stop sign and once you think it’s clear, some imbecile materializes with little white sticks in his or her ears while diddling on their screen keyboard to test your defensive driving skills and your brakes.

As the study attests (and the sensationalist way the NY Daily News reports it) this could lead to cordoned off lanes and street corridors strictly for walking cellphone usage. This shouldn’t warrant any city planning that might get inspired by it, although it looks like it already has. What else can explain the justification for the all the LinkNYC kiosks and wifi in the subways and buses? Maybe NYC has a plan to build utopian villages reliant on oblivious cellphone navigation, like what Google’s trying to do in Toronto with their frightening Quayside project (or even in the newly christened Hudson Square on Soho’s west side).

It isn’t like nobody is aware of what the streets look like these days when you compare it to just a decade ago. 99% of the citizenry owns a cellphone and possibly 98% of commuters just can’t put it down. And you wanna bet that the people who did this study consist of them too? Especially the corrupt moron mayor and his equally oblivious cult of over 300 staffers and aides. Along with the editors of the NY Daily News who did this story. There must be a bias and a collective guilty conscience going on here.

Surely the main reason this study was recently put out besides the aforementioned theories concocted in this post is that the more people are on their cellphones, which the city hopes will be even more now that the DOT are telling them they are not responsible for their addiction, the web services will continue to make billions from the advertising that will be viewed by the celly fiends from the data revenue and personal information they will usurp from them.

The cellphone junkies of all ages, while not strung out or filthy, are no different than addicts of meth, heroin, crack, coke or opioid pills; they all selfish people who prioritize their selfish needs over the safety of others and themselves and wander around in a hazy daze like K-2 smoking zombies. Sure not that many celly fiends are getting killed now, but just wait for it. Then when some imbecile is texting some banal shit to his acquaintance, comment about something trending on the twitter, watching an amazon show or playing a app game and then gets clobbered by an approaching car, train or bike then you will see the inevitable clusterfuck of belated outrage of city officials suddenly decrying cellphone overuse. Followed up by a new old study critical of it too.

Until then, and if there are people reading this walking right now, pick your stupid fucking head up and read it later when you’re sitting on your ass.

And to deBlasio’s DOT, why don’t you do a study regarding pedestrian and accident data on walking and chewing gum since you’re gonna waste our time trying to normalize stupid behavior like this?

New Bad Days 46: Like It And Learn To Love It, Rikers Island Shutdown Is Underway As It Was Announced 60 Hours After A Group Of Five Gangbangers Crippled A Correction Officer; A Class Size Group Of Kids Beat Down A Homeless Man On The A Train; A Dead Baby Abandoned In A Park; Two Women Beat Down A Pregnant Woman And Slam A Door On Her Feet; Rap Crew Films Shitty Video And Shows Off Their Stash While Imprisoned; Super Crazy Guy Jumps Roofs In Bed-Stuy And Multiple Random And Intentional Slashings And Deadly Domestic Disputes.

https://thenypost.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/rikers1.jpgRikers Island, pariah government center on scrumptious speculative real estate.

From the elected denizens occupying City Hall, they have begun the dizzying ill conceived official program to shut down Rikers Island and transfer all convicts present and future to four jails in the boroughs of Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Manhattan. But not Staten Island, because supposedly no one commits crimes there.

This is where the Mini-Rikers will be:

  • Manhattan Detention Center, 125 White Street, Manhattan, 10013 (The Tombs)
  • Brooklyn Detention Center, 275 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, 11201
  • Queens Detention Center, 126-01 82nd Avenue, Kew Gardens, 11415
  • NYPD Tow Pound, 320 Concord Avenue, Bronx, 10454

This transition is suppose to take a decade or if crime drops first. But apparently these fauxgressive hacks aren’t even going to wait for the latter, especially now that Gov. Andy has decided to up the ante with his jackass boisterousness and wants Rikers shut down earlier than that.

Mayor de Blasio and Speaker Corey Johnson announced an agreement today to move forward on closing Rikers Island and creating a smaller, safer and fairer borough-based jail system. Together with the Council Members representing these areas, the Mayor and Speaker have agreed to a single public review process for four proposed sites in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens. These sites together will provide off-Island space for 5,000 detainees, and will include the three existing DOC facilities in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, as well as a new site in the Bronx located at 320 Concord Avenue in Mott Haven.

“This agreement marks a huge step forward on our path to closing Rikers Island,” said Mayor de Blasio. “In partnership with the City Council, we can now move ahead with creating a borough-based jail system that’s smaller, safer and fairer. I want to thank these representatives, who share our vision of a more rehabilitative and humane criminal justice system that brings staff and detainees closer to their communities.”

“Today is a historic day, as we are yet one step closer to closing Rikers Island.  The New York City Council is proud to have spearheaded the historic Close Rikers movement by creating the Lippman commission and passing legislation enacting many of its recommendations. The Council has also funded innovative programming to keep cases out of the criminal justice system altogether, such as the CLEAR and HOPE programs, which provide treatment instead of incarceration to those with substance abuse issues. We all know that closing jails on Rikers means opening more humane, community-based facilities elsewhere. I am proud to stand with my Council colleagues and thank them for their support on this crucial issue. I look forward to working closely with Mayor de Blasio, my Council colleagues representing these communities, and the communities themselves in finally achieving our shared goal of closing Rikers Island,” said Speaker Corey Johnson.

The Office Of The Mayor

This is being done because the violent environment and corruption in Rikers has become too endemic. As opposed to the equally well know graft in the city and state government high offices for a century and at a pinnacle today? Is this really what voters, meaning the less than 25% who showed up to elect these dusted democrats, really asked for from them.

What are the costs going to be to retrofit those four jails and how they are going to manage to fit all those prisoners and even staff. Especially what the speculative costs will be to convert that garage in the Bronx into a functioning high security apparatus. Most essential is how this goal of 5,000 convicts going to be accomplished to justify these transfers.

As simplistic and cynical as it sounds, which this utopian program resembles the former in spades, the only way this can be achieved is by not convicting anyone who commits crimes it seems. Which de Blasio has already assured with recent accusations by a police captain of stations lessening crime charges and the recent and similar doctoring and reclassifying of crimes committed at homeless shelters

As for sounding like the latter, it has been known for a few years that the Gentrification Industrial Complex are salivating at the prospects of all that scrumptious real estate waiting to be taken. Even the Corrections Officers Union President Elias Husamudeen smells a rat and sees this for the fauxgressive ruse it is. Although coming from the namesake of the commission report that inspired the Rikers shutdown, Johnathan Lippman, it ain’t like those interested in all that city property are shy about their passively heinous ulterior motives masking as a humanity cause:

…former New York State chief judge Jonathan Lippman, who heads the New York City Council-created criminal justice reform commission that oversees the Rikers-study committee, said it’s only natural to explore “potentially doing some of the things we’ve done with other vacant, large pieces of land, whether it be benefiting public health, education, research institutions.”

But he also sought to emphasize, and then re-emphasize, that real estate is in no way the central focus of his committee.

“At the outset, let me say that the future of Rikers Island as a physical location follows—and certainly doesn’t precede—improving our jail system,” he said.

“The political center of this will be about how we make the system more humane and just,” he said, “and at the same time recognize that you do have a very strategically placed and valuable piece of real estate there that could have a multitude of public policy purposes to develop it.”

None of these elected idiots surely not have thought through this but predictably are following de Faustio’s (bottom) line. Particularly Speaker Corey Johnson who in just a short month after exhorting that he was going to be a bulldog critic and a check on the mayor’s machinations and decisions has devolved into the typical partisan loyal neoliberal lapdog he is. And Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz who has officially thrown her hands up and quit and gave her approval, selling out her constituents and her credibility.

While we all want to live in a city or even a world without crime, this program is being foisted on the public without a clarified thought or what the ramifications might be or how much the goddamn new Mini-Rikers are going to cost.

And one huge fact is if that when this transfer officially begins, will that endemic violent and corrupt prison culture will carry on in the new jails or will exacerbate. Because this is clearly not going to happen overnight or most certainly, well, never.

Because in Rikers Island, a correction officer was attacked and beat down by five prisoners as a guard in the same room just stood there and watched and did not help his fellow officer, who wound up with severe spinal and neck injuries from the savage gang attack. The first one who barged in the room planned the premeditated the attack during a phone call according to another inmate.

We shall see how this shit enfolds. This post illustrates that this isn’t starting off well.

There Is A Delay At Lefferts Blvd. Station Renovation Ahead Because Of State And City Government Indifference And Negligence, Stupid Bickering From The Governor And Mayor, Tardy Contractors, Selective And Overdue Renovations At Other Stations, And Stupid Priorities Focusing On Optics And Social Interaction.

038
Lefferts Blvd. Station, November 2017. Ain’t a damn thing changed.

Richmond Hill, Queens, N.F’n.Y.

The renovation and modernization of the Lefferts Blvd. Station remains incomplete and nearly 2 years behind schedule. This was supposed to be finished on September 2016.

When I last wrote about this, it was with great relief that the staircase was repaired and accessible again. Also the encrusted vile, unsanitary and health hazardous pigeon shit that piled up on the turnstiles and the partition walls was finally scoured somewhat.  I attribute this to an actual televised report way back in late May by CBS New York’s Reena Roy.

Now when I wrote that I would write back in a month, being July, was around the time when Mario’s Son, Governor Andrew Cuomo proclaimed commuting on your city’s subway was in the midst of a summer of hell and ordered a fast tracking of repairs all over our lousy transit system. An encouraging sign appeared at this station promising the station’s completion, including the monstrous elevator which hogs half the sidewalk on the corner by September 16 or the end of the 3rd quarter.

Look how they creatively fixed the date on the sign with the sophistication of a little scamp changing D-‘s to A+’s on a report card.

To assure the way overdue task for completion, the MTA decided that it was best to lock down the stairway in August in order to hasten work on the elevator. At least that was the impression it gave. Respecting the governors demands for swift repair and the repressed frustrations of the commuting public, the station drew up a new sign for the reopening of the stairs. September 15, 2017!

010

Some obstacles got in the way during this supposed fast track. For the staircase remained shut down until a few weeks ago on October 22nd.

Making egress from the station a lethargic, condensed human being imitation of a cow to burger death march exit.

As for the elevator, alas the promising scheduled finalization has not come to be, for it being November, a third of the month over and officially in the 2nd month of the 4 quarter of the year. Betraying the promise made by the bollard obscured sign in the above photo.

This is where this station is now:

Alas, the promising scheduled finalization has not come to be. Another expected failure of the worst fucking transit system in the fucking universe.

All one can ask, equally philosophically and vulgarly is, fucking why is this being delayed like it’s been, what’s the reason for it and what else is so important that priorities have been so skewed that prevented this from even being done this year.

The Lefferts Blvd. station isn’t the only thing the MTA is, for lack of a better term, not fucking bothering with. The MTA is still living up to their model of consistent shitty service all over the boroughs.

One moment in the waning days of the MTA’s Summer Of Hell, Andy Cuomo made an provocatively asinine remark telling and challenging his downstate constituents of alleged improvements if you look a little harder at them.  I felt it was prudent not to respond immediately to his bullshit, easy to do when you don’t have accounts with billion dollar worth social media platforms, and waited till more incidents naturally piled up so there could be some rationale for the awful delay of the Lefferts station makeover. And it did not disappoint despite it’s natural inclination to.

Like the recent IBO study that determined the costs of commuters livelihoods of millions of dollars from loss of work hours in addition to missed appointments from constant daily delays. Delays that have went up 50,000 in 5 years totaling 15,000 hours. Exacerbated by the irresponsible city planning enabling hyper-development and over-speculation of rental market rates, leading to more people moving into the new towers and shacking up with each other in small newly expensive dwellings. Also the pressing fact of the systems aging cars, rotted infrastructure, and disgraceful antiquated signal system.

Steady reports from the commuters of terminated news and culture blog Gothamist and their dead sister newsite DNAinfo revealed real time shittiness like malfunctioning Metrocard machines ripping off commuters, Monday morning city wide delays, rerouting in a span of two weeks, more mechanical breakdowns on the unjustifiably overdue repairing of the Canarsie Tunnel on the L line and another case of hazardous debris left on the tracks.

The obvious obliviousness and of the Governor, pissing hundreds of millions of dollars on light shows, dangerous cashless toll booths, and state sealed useless objectiles by all bridges.

Somehow lost when he gave his advice to suffering commuters, he didn’t look hard enough after he threw his subway New Year’s Day suarez on the 86th Street station Second Avenue line when a sprinkler malfunction shorted the escalators back in May revealed that the line’s emergency service safety system was still being tested, faulty with thousand of defects and incomplete. So if there is somehow a fire, commuters will be too busy panicking and running in mobs to check out all the modern art on the walls.

Appointed interim commissioner Joe Lotha laid out the state’s plan, 4 weeks late of course and after promising completion of a 60 day study that was never released for the reason that the city won’t contribute, of how to accomplish improving service and infrastructure at the gargantuan amount of $15.5 billion dollars, adding more to the amount of money spent and squandered compared to other subway systems around the world and I am obliged to say, the worst fucking transit system in the universe. (I don’t give a shit what that glossy and fancy corporate commissioned study says.

As for other stations in the MTA boards fix included in the 30 station surface improvement plan, renovations like in Astoria will probably meet the same fate as the monument of futility of the Lefferts station and it won’t even have an elevator for the handicap and elderly. Although the stations by Sunset Park and Bay Ridge got done in 6 months and on time, mostly with cosmetic improvements, if you would call those benches that.

So far what has manifested on the city’s trains, stations and even personnel borders on the ludicrous. Like the already decided removal of seats on the cars of a few lines and the replacement of them with fold-up seats on the L line which already have been damaged, presumably by very pissed off citizens. Just to cram more sardines in a crushed tin box.

Also idiotic ideas that rifle straight from underpaying big box retail stores, like taking former MTA booth clerks and turning them into smiling greeters or the slightly more dignifying term ambassadors. And having subway announcements be more honest and informative and less identity oriented by no longer addressing commuters as “ladies and gentlemen” Funny, I thought announcements were supposed to be those things. This devotion to transparency compares to Domino’s Pizza’s recent decision to use actual ingredients for their bland peasant food. Anyway, even though they don’t have an appealing alternative for the universal pleasant greeting of both genders, whatever will replace it will be diligently watched by a crack team of supervisors at the start of the demented program, so any replacing of old tracks and subway car maintanance will have to wait.

Speaking of alienating people, this time unwarranted, the MTA has decided to upgrade how you pay to get on the trains and buses of this perpetual shitshow transit system, by eliminating the metrocard and switching to a tap or swipe system by using a credit card and a cellphone. Opening up new avenues and opportunities for identity stealing hackers and the common skell to snatch your wallet or iphone. The latter being the number one target of thievery. This will also be a major pain to older commuters who don’t have cards or phones and are not tech savvy and all those sensible people who don’t want or refuse to use such items for payment.

Recently re-elected mayor and lucky bastard Bill de Blasio is also being quite a dick about this and comes off like a worse jerk than his foolish nemesis in Albany. For he refuses to contribute to the actually sensible rescue plan that was aborted because of the fact that the state spent the city’s money before prioritizing the highways and bridges instead of the subway.

Although de Faustio and everyone else with a functioning brain and motor skills knows that Cuomo and the state are responsible for the upkeep and spending of your city’s mass transit system and considering the diversion of funding to the idiotic programs and surface improvements aforementioned including one involving a shady crew to cover up bus accidents, Mayor Big Slow doesn’t seem or want to realize that a lot of constituency still relies on driving as well as city businesses. There’s also his insistence on keeping the REBNY developer welfare boondoggle BQX line still afloat and his jackass funding of the disappointing under-serving ferry boats as the subway continued to implode. Even the street belching fire and smoke in the station by (21st century Tammany) city hall is not enough to convince him. So there again goes his credibility on matters concerning the citizens and their finances and daily routines and what an amazing money pissing hypocrite he is.

There is also the fact that he his holding a shitty hand and really cannot challenge the state and Cuomo’s mediocre genius board members by denying the share of the funding in the rescue plan. Despite how they are actually blackmailing the city now that threats of a fare hike is being considered recently. Sometimes you gotta know when to fold ’em like Kenny Rogers reminded us and just suck it up.

With this snafu FUBAR rigmarole going on with the transit system, still overlooked is the last stop on the east bound A train, Lefferts, which service is also being undermined by more trains going to the Rockaways, and it’s station still in a purgatory state of stagnant development. Compared to all the activity that has occurred in the past 4 years of renovation, it’s like it’s frozen in time. That elevator is practically the Frozen Caveman of the MTA.

This should not be in the 21st century. Lefferts is one of the biggest transportation and transfer hubs in NYC and this should have been finished already, yet the elevator remains dormant despite looking complete. The fast track either missed it or more likely the MTA is holding out. It’s an insult to the community, the customers and a crime of social neglect. And a hideous blight on the intersection and massive obstruction to boot.

This elevator has got to get done stat. It’s stupid and unfair that other stations are getting upgraded, especially the one in Brooklyn that got done on time (figures) and retrofitted with lousy wifi that only works at the stations and not in the tunnels or between elevated tracks and a fucking elevator can’t start. It’s one goddamn elevator. The Empire State Building and The World Trade Center (the one that wasn’t named Freedom) got built 3 years faster than this station’s makeover. And those buildings have and had dozens of elevators. This one just goes about 3 stories for fuck’s sake.

Finish this goddamn station already. No more excuses and no more fucking sharpie pen overwritten rescheduling.

Since we are now being so honest.
