In a few weeks, New York City (and other American cities) will be recognizing the one year anniversary of the extrajudicial murder of George Floyd committed by Officer Derek Chauvin and also the start of the Black Lives Matter mass protest demonstrations that followed it.
Which brings up Mayor de Blasio’s feeble recognition of that momentous tragedy and other preventable deaths at the hands of overzealous police based on the race of the victims. Inspired by Mayor Muriel Browser, who ordered a mural of the movement’s universal political slogan on a street in Washington D.C, the Blaz decided to sextuple down on Browser’s tribute and painted 6 murals on the 5 boroughs. The one placed on the world’s borough of Queens was on Jamaica Avenue in Jamaica, right in front of the landmark Rufus King house and park.
I happened to witness it being painted last summer in July as volunteers put the finishing touches on it.
The mural covered both sides of the two way street and spanned about 2 blocks. Although not as elaborate as the BLM mural on Fulton St. in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn; he people did a great job painting it, although this would have been better if the city repaved the street with new asphalt before they did it. But The Blaz might have been in a rush that he didn’t bother, make that didn’t want to bother getting the permits to paint the slogan on the street.
Sadly, the mural that is supposed to be a tribute to civil rights and in memoriam of Black lives cut down by wanton aggressive policing, is no more.
All that’s left of the world renowned civil rights slogan is faint traces of the words “lives” and “matter” on the lane going eastward. The word Black is wholly vanished. Wonder when de Blasio and the Department of
Transformation Transportation suddenly decided the Black Lives Matter on Jamaica Ave. pretty much didn’t matter anymore and decided not to maintain it like the more elaborate and huger mural on Fulton St. in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.
What’s especially odd is that there hasn’t been much agitation about it all, considering the various efforts the Blaz made last year in his vain efforts to preserve the BLM mural he spitefully had painted in front of Trump Tower on 5th Avenue (even though he already painted a mural in Harlem) after it was vandalized with gallons of paint every week last summer and in one final act of destructive activism, covered with tar being dumped by a pick up truck. But it looks like that one is going to meet the same fate of the vanishing one in Queens, going by the stains still remaining and paint fading on the street mural.
It’s clear that the Jamaica Ave. mural didn’t get the same protection as the Brooklyn and Midtown Manhattan ones, the latter two benefiting from the presence of steel barricades, leading to traffic getting diverted away from the murals. While the one in Jamaica looks as if the avenue was never shut down to traffic on the day after the painting was completed, plus how this strip on Jamaica Ave., right by a city park no less, obviously was never considered to be part of the city’s open streets program.
But this mural, as well as the others in the other four boroughs, was never about the message and the movement of Black Lives Matter, it was only about optics. The Blaz exploited BLM to mural wash away his idiotic policy decisions during last years protests; from his idiotic and unenforceable 8 p.m. curfew, his NYPD’s violent maltreatment of protesters and anyone that happened to be near them, whether journalists or essential workers and his appalling insouciance of his NYPD’s abuse of authority and trampling of first amendment rights to publicly assemble which consequently led to charges of human rights violations and an investigation by A.G. Letitia James condemning the NYPD’s gross mishandling of the protests, leading to an overhaul of disciplinary measures for rogue officers.
Although a fresh coat of paint can absolve this, it might be better to let the digression and neglect of the Jamaica Ave. BLM mural serve as an example of what happens when movements get politicallyy co-opted by virtue signalling opportunists like the Blaz as he winds down his last months as Mayor of New York City. The mural’s current state should serve as a condemnation symbol of his, his bureaucracy and elected district officials fleeting memories. This mural signifies nothing, and that’s all that should remain as it’s eradication continues under the wheels of daily traffic.
Looks like my little blog is quite the musical muse, going by Hip Hop boss lady star and former South Ozone Park resident Nicki Minaj’s new single “LLC” off her upcoming album “Queen”. From the minute and a half Itunes gives you, it doesn’t sound like she’s rapping about shady foreign real estate conglomerates but the woman’s rhyme flow is still deadly. Plus it’s got a good beat and it’s easy to dance to. This gets an 88.
Then there’s this song that I came across while googling myself from a UK band called Echoviolet,“City Of Impunity”.
I’m probably not the one to call myself an influencer, but I’m a tad sure they read this blog or my deplatformed twitter account. As for the song, the music and vocals has got heavy “Dirty” era Sonic Youth vibes going on. Their depiction of Impunity City, I mean the City of Impunity really didn’t evoke any sense of danger and enabled anarchy, especially the part about fire that smells like vanilla. This sound is not really my cup of tea anymore and the song isn’t loud or fast enough for my liking, so I give it a 66, with half the grade going for the inspired title alone.
Three people — two women and a four-year-old girl — where hit by stray bullets when a gunman took aim at another man in Times Square on Saturday afternoon, police said.
Police were called to the area near W. 44th St. and Seventh Ave. around 4:55 p.m.
The victims were rushed to local hospitals. Two victims taken to Bellevue Hospital, including the little girl, did not suffer life-threatening wounds, said police.
None of the three victims were known to each other, law enforcement sources said. One of the injured woman is 23 years old, and the other is 42 years old.
The mayhem began when two men on a street corner started arguing, and one of them pulled a gun, said police sources.
“I heard three loud shots,” said Sandy Espinoza, 42, a visitor from Illinois who says she was standing at W. 46th St. and Seventh Ave. when the gunfire erupted.
“Everybody was running,” Espinoza said. “People were panicking and screaming. It was like a stampede of people. We were worrying we were going to get run over by people. We ran with everyone else.”
One of the wounded woman screamed, “My leg!” recounted Khadim Sakho, 25, a street vendor from Manhattan.
Sakho believed the child was also hit in the leg.
“They were bleeding and the lady was crying,” he said.
The 4-year-old, who is from Brooklyn, was in a stroller and accompanied by members of family, said police sources.
Seems like bad old days again in the new Times Square…
Why wait for Broadway to re-open and spend a grand on Hamilton when you can see a duel between two shitty gunmen on the street?
Looks like none of the 80 extra cops the NYPD deployed in the area to tamp down on vagrancy were not around to catch these two thugs when they started squabbling.
de Blasio’s new vaccine program to encourage tourists to get shots on Broadway is sure coming back to haunt him now.
But not more than this bon mot he vomited about the rise in gun violence at his last media availability two days ago:
It isn’t that nobody believes in New York City, it’s that no believes you.
In something that hasn’t been seen in probably decades, Commissioner Shea held a news conference. Even though he implied how reform laws are causing upticks in crime, he still liberally peppered most of reporters questions about the gun violence coming to Times Square with the same b.s. exclusivity talking points about how NYC is the safest in world
Conspicuous by his expected absence was the Mayor of New York City, who decided to hide and tweet from his celly instead of standing by Shea and other NYPD high brass to avoid being accountable for his defiant insouciance of the gun violence and other violent crimes rising fast during his recovery for all of us.
Also nowhere to be found was Speaker Corey Johnson or any of the City Council cronies. But maybe it’s better because most of them have been arrogantly acting like their law forcing the closing of Rikers is not having a deleterious impact on the streets and subways.
Among all this blather about the greatest safest city and anemic and lack of responses by elected officials, it had to take a young teenager of color to bring the knowledge about what this recent brazen daylight shooting signifies about the existential state of violence and fear that’s gripping this city in a news brief from PIX News:
“It’s terrible because it shows you the state that New York’s in, you know. And it really, you know, hints towards a lack of leadership from any of our representatives, you know, who really don’t seem to care about repetitive events such as these going around in our city” (It gets cut off there, because PIX needs to maintain brevity to make time for their daily 8 segment weather reports on each hour newscast)
This kid sounds more in touch with the realities on the streets than anyone in City Council and certainly more than the oblivious mayor and at least 8 candidates running in the Democrat primary for mayor right now. All he’s said here basically that the progressive answer to solve the daily gun violence is for them to act like they give a shit about it as much as to acknowledge and recognize it instead of looking at this crisis (as well as other sociological crises) through ideological prisms (unless a stray bullet finds it way to crack them).
Which shows that the leadership the city lacks will continue in perpetuity.
Same as it ever was.
This scene is located on Lefferts Blvd on a corner in South Richmond Hill. This house has been abandoned for quite a long ass time. Except as a reliable sanctuary for squatters and precocious teenagers in need of a place to play hooky or imbibe and get high with impunity.
A fire engulfed this once modest home back in 2015, a homeless man was found dead in the attic after the flames were put out. And last year a homeless man was found dead on the porch with his head caved in and left there by two men and a teenage girl who were found squatting inside.
Oddly enough, the house is being used for very raw and free advertising. Looks as if it’s appealing to a certain demographic looking to make a few Benjamins in a huff.
The house is thoroughly sealed.
And it still has satellite TV.
For a house that’s been blighting an area for over a decade, the hedges and bushes still look well maintained. And going by it’s history, it’s doubtlessly still being inhabited by the city’s housing insecure populace, for it probably is still safer to reside in than the city’s notorious homeless shelters, including the hotel ones. But what this abandoned home (and many others like them) and the aforementioned shelters truly shows it’s that it’s the only genuine real affordable housing that’s available in NYC.
The Blaz got a little cranky during his media availability on the day it was reported that shootings went up nearly 170% in the month of April, along with a 30% rise in overall crime, coming off multiple days when total shootings passed the double digits. Despite arrests for guns that exceeded the percentage of bullets flying in the streets, the NYPD’s dogged efforts to ameliorate gun violence and salvage de Blasio’s recovery for all of us for him have been underwhelming.
And despite the NYPD’s concerted effort to stop bias violence against Asian people, it continues to happen on a daily basis. While sexual assaults and rapes that went up over 320% from last yearand the continuing rise of auto theft and burglaries continue to get overlooked.
Subway violence also continues to be a consistent scourge as ridership has not gone up as expected because of commuters legitimate fears of being victimized of random attacks or muggings, despite the statistical dip in crimes and a deployment of 500 cops on the rails and The Blaz’s incessant and incredible assurances of how safe the subway is as he desperately cites the total stats in defiance of the facts underground. Mentally ill vagrants neglected by de Blasio’s administration also continue to play a factor in low ridership, which the longest interim NYC Transit president Sarah Feinberg had to prove herself by riding the uptown express train occupied by a disheveled man yelling for no reason at no one in particular.
Responses to all of these crises have been defiantly dismissed by The Blaz, some are even obnoxiously obtuse. Like when a woman called Brian Lehrer’s ask the mayor segment on his show and vividly and shakenly described a gang related shooting that happened on her block as she and her daughter dodged bullets after they stepped out of her car steps away from their home, the Blaz reverted to his city recovery and revisionist pandemic history talking points, which he also did when a tourist got shot by a hotel in Midtown west. The only action the Blaz has taken is to remake and remodel a gun violence reduction program from last summer that didn’t make a dent at all when it was implemented.
With this crime wave troika of gun, subway and xenophobic violence, the Blaz continues to look to and rely on a convenient nemesis he calls the Perfect Storm of COVID, even though all this crazy shit is happening during his recovery for all of us. The only perfect storm that is devastating this city is his daily hurricane of lame excuses.
In Bed-Stuy, a five-year-old girl got struck on her head by a stray bullet while she was about to draw on the sidewalk with chalk as a man emptied his clip firing in her direction down the block and missed his target. It took a month to catch the perp and a judge wisely levied a bail for 100 large on him.
Also in Bed-Stuy, a man got into a shootout with cops on the grounds of the Sumner Houses.
Again in Bed Stuy, a man got shot to death in a fusillade of bullets inside a stairwell in apartment building at the Tompkins Houses.
And again in Bed-Stuy, a man got shot in the shoulder inside a parking lot.
And again in Bed-Stuy, a man shot another man while he was sitting in a parked car.
And again in Bed-Stuy, a 12-year-old boy got shot in the chest while standing on the street and getting caught in the crossfire between two gangs blasting at each other. The victim’s grandmother describes the streets in the once ballyhooed by the gentrification industrial complex media apparatus as a hot town as kill or be killed environment.
And again in Bed-Stuy, a man rolled up to a 17-year-old girl on his bicycle and punched her in the face, robbed her wallet and rolled away.
And again in Bed-Stuy, a shootout between two gangs on the street went down in broad daylight.
And again in Bed-Stuy, a man got shot in the leg on the street an hour before dawn.
And again in Bed-Stuy at the Myrtle Ave/Broadway Station, a woman tried to push another woman onto the tracks but was stopped by a Samaritan.
And again in Bed-Stuy, a woman walked into a bodega and destroyed a surveillance video monitor after a worker refused to give her money and then threw a mop at him after she bizarrely requested to open the store’s ATM machine. When the cops arrived to detain her, she ripped a wiper from a patrol car and then challenged the cops to taze her, which they did as she tried to flee but those shitty weapons had no effect on her. She was subsequently charged and released without bail (of course).
In Brownsville, a man went to a birthday party for his and his girlfriend’s 9 year-old daughter at her apartment and then he shot her and her two daughters to death using two guns as his daughter hid in a closet and watched the mass murder happen while peeking through the door while managing to call 911. The man then went outside and committed suicide by shooting himself a few blocks away from the slaughter. The man previously served an 8 year sentence for shooting a man to death who was trying to break up a fight involving his relatives on a Halloween night when he was 18 years old.
Also in Brownsville, at the Livonia Ave. Station, a man committed suicide by jumping in front of the arriving L train.
Again in Brownsville, a man shot his girlfriend’s father to death when he tried to protect her during an argument he was having with her in his front yard.
And again in Brownsville, a man got pulled over by the cops for speeding and then he hit the gas as a police lieutenant was about to question him and dragged him on the street going in reverse and escaped. The gangbanger had a good reason to jet being a murder suspect for a killing in Queens 3 months earlier.
After nearly killing a police officer, he continued to show his appreciation to the state for letting him bounce without bail despite the attempted murder charge and also the city for recent charges for a robbery he committed, as the bastard broke into a house of a 66-year-old woman in Edgemere and attempted to hide out there. He then walked to the beach and found a luxury car parked by nearby luxury towers as the owner left it running and jumped inside and stole it and tried but got caught by Nassau P.D. going to his father’s house to hide out.
And again in Brownsville at the Livonia Ave. Station, a man committed suicide by jumping in front of the arriving L train.
And again in Brownsville, two men sitting in a car got shot at by a man they were arguing with.

And again in East New York, a man got heated when a school bus stopped in front of him and didn’t move when the light turned green. Then the man came out of his vehicle and menaced the bus driver, who then took out her phone to document his tirade. As she was recording him, this made him even madder and he went back to his car and hit the gas pedal, ran her over on the median and got away.
In East Flatbush, a woman got into an argument with a laundromat worker and then she stole a 64 oz. bottle of liquid detergent and pounded her multiple times with it.
Also in East Flatbush, a man got pulled over by cops who caught him speeding through a red light and then he threw bleach in one cops faces and hit the gas. Then he threw a molotov cocktail at them, but it didn’t ignite. After the mentally disturbed man was arrested, there were two other molotov cocktails prepared inside the vehicle.
After a further search by the NYPD, the lunatic had five more molotov’s inside his car and expressed desires to blow up more police vehicles.
Again in East Flatbush, a young man got shot in the leg while crossing the boulevard and another young man got shot in the chest on the street less than a 1/8 mile away and another young man got shot a man in the stomach about a 1/4 mile away from that shooting. All of the assailants involved in these shootings jumped out of cars and ambushed their victims and got back in their rides and got away. It’s like there’s an Uber or Lyft app for gangstas.
In Sheepshead Bay, a crazed man grabbed a bouquet of flowers and flung them into the street and then he shoved a 77-year-old man to the pavement as he was shopping for produce. The violent
bigot mentally ill man previously grabbed a woman by her hair and tried to beat her up against a store window a few weeks earlier in Homecrest,
Also in Sheepshead Bay, four men jumped a man as he was walking home and one of the thugs stuck him up at gunpoint, then they took his keys and stole his car and drove it to Jamaica and abandoned it there. The victim is related to one of the cops that was assassinated by a lunatic looking to kill police as he was eating lunch in his patrol car with his partner who also got shot to death.
In Bushwick, two men on a street corner got shot at from a man riding on the back of a motorcycle driven by his accomplice.
In Park Slope, where Mayor de Blasio owns two low-taxed homes, a woman ran up behind her ex-girlfriend and shot her point blank at the back of her head as she was about to walk into a bodega. The victim collapsed on the corner and died instantly. The shooter’s motive reportedly stemmed from an abusive relationship with the victim.
Also in Park Slope, Comptroller candidate and City Council crony member Brad Lander got caught with 8 speeding violations in school zones and over 100 tickets for traffic and parking violations shortly after he got praise from a bike agitprop blog and primary endorsements from notable fauxgressive elected officials, including a woman named AOC, for his legislative decisions against reckless drivers like him.
In Homecrest, a man punched another man in the face and called him a racial slur while he was trying to do his job sweeping in front of a restaurant.

And again in Crown Heights, at the Utica Ave. Station, a man banged furiously on the conductor’s windows and then he jumped onto the tracks.
In Coney Island, a police officer’s personal car got set on fire while he was on duty at the Stillwell Ave. Station.
Also in Coney Island, burglars broke into an apartment and robbed 18 large worth of baubles.
Again in Coney Island, scumbag thieves robbed $50,000 worth of public financed property from a NYCHA building. How is Biden’s RAD and de Blasio’s PACT going to cover this?
In Williamsburg, a woman ran over and killed a sanitation worker with her minivan while he was doing his job and she didn’t have the tolerance to wait until he and his fellow worker were done hauling trash. After she crushed him with her vehicle and while her passenger and witnesses were trying to help the victim, she grabbed her keys and walked away from the grisly scene.
Also in Williamsburg at the Grand St. Station, a man randomly attacked a woman on the platform and tried to push her onto the tracks. When Samaritans came by he stepped away, but then he rushed at her and tried to shove her off again when the coast was clear.

And again in Williamsburg, a man got into an argument with his cousin and two other men he was dining with inside a restaurant over women they were acquainted with and then the three men pushed him outside for being unruly and drunk. Then the ejected man whipped out a gun and tried to shoot them inside the restaurant and missed as stray bullets hit two men dining outside under the scaffolding and threatened to shoot at passerby as he tried to flee from the crime scene. Cops deployed to monitor a protest arrived and chased the perp, who horribly ditched his gun by a pile of trash during the pursuit, and arrested him around the corner from the incident. The perp was found to be on the loose avoiding warrants for armed robberies he committed with his brother in North Carolina.
And again in Williamsburg, a gang of six young men stole four app-rental cars from a parking garage and took them for joyrides in Manhattan and the Bronx. All were caught, arrested and arraigned and released without bail because nobody got hurt during their chicanery.
In East Williamsburg, a man got hit by a car while jaywalking crossing the street with the red light.
Also in East Williamsburg, a man grabbed a woman from behind on a street corner and threw her against the wall and held her throat while demanding cash. Even though she showed him a 20, he proceeded to throw her against a car and grabbed her by the pussy. Then he got spooked when he alarmed a person who was sitting in the vehicle during his rape attempt. The deviant got caught over a week later.
In Cypress Hills, an app-food delivery worker waiting for his SUV getting cleaned in a car wash found a man sitting inside it when it rolled out and flashed his piece at him even though it did not deter the worker from protecting his livelihood and got into a tussle with the thief but fell off and hit his head on the asphalt as the lowlife got away with his vehicle.

And again in Downtown Brooklyn at the Atlantic Ave. Station, a homeless man punched a woman and bit her head on the Q train.
And again in Downtown Brooklyn and again at the Atlantic Ave/Barclays Center Station, a commuter pulled the emergency brake and tried to kick in windows on the D train, then he jumped onto the tracks and ran away. Sounds like the city has to send social workers into the tunnels.
And again in Downtown Brooklyn, a funeral procession for an enormously successful and influential rapper dominated and locked down Flatbush Ave. for hours by a monster truck carrying the red coffin of the deceased and a critical mass of motorcycle riders. It was the most rock and roll thing that’s happened in the borough of Kings in ages.
In Bensonhurst, a man got caught pilfering through an unlocked car belonging to a woman and then threatened to stab her. He got away with $500 and her shades.
Also in Bensonhurst, a woman got robbed of 8 grand after a thief broke into her house.

In Marine Park, some bad sheepherder abandoned 8 little lambs in a family’s backyard.
In Greenpoint, a man driving an Amazon delivery van stole all the police barricades that were placed for blocking traffic for the city’s Open Streets and threw them all in Newton Creek. The Department of
Transformation Transportation sent more barricades for the rich hipsters to block the streets to cars (while causing more congestion) but they were found glued shut.
A bike agitprop blog commanded by a intolerant bike zealot gentrifier from Brooklyn, his few minion followers on the bike blogs comment thread and two journalists from Gothamist hilariously have accused the NYPD of orchestrating this sabotage even though Amazon Prime delivery service has laid predominance over all retail on the city. Especially in high rent tower pestilence plagued Northwest Brooklyn. Wonder why they refuse to put the onus on a tech monopoly that has usurped retail shopping, killed small businesses and notorious for overworking and dehumanizing their employees?
L O fucking L…
In Woodside, a woman murdered her new born twins in her apartment by scalding the baby girl in hot water and sticking a knife into her baby son’s neck after failing to kill them by feeding them Pine Sol mixed with their formula because she didn’t want to take care of them anymore. Her father obviously didn’t want to take care of them from the start.
Also in Woodside, a community fridge set up by a bodega got destroyed overnight and was left dismantled on the curb. Keep Jessica Ramos away from it too.
In Astoria, a man whipped out his choad in front of a woman working in a shoe store.
Also in Astoria, a man shot another man to death inside an SUV the victim bought for his mother by blasting him from the passenger back seat during a botched robbery. In Allerton, Parkchester and Tremont, five men held up three parking garages at gunpoint and stole five cars in under a week. Three of the auto thieves are still on the loose.
In Pelham Bay, a man riding his bike got run over by a car when the driver ran the stop sign. The driver stopped to look at the victim and then got back in his car and fled.
In University Heights, cops found the back windshield of their patrol car smashed after they responded to a domestic violence emergency.
In Williamsbridge, a traffic stop went awry after cops pulled over a car that wasn’t registered or insured, so the driver panicked and peeled out. Then the cops shot at his vehicle, nearly hitting him and his girlfriend. When the couple went to turn themselves in at the nearest NYPD precinct, there was no record of the traffic stop nor of the shooting that took place. All that’s evident from the incident is bullet holes in the rear windshield of the man’s car.
Also in Williamsbridge, a man got shot to death after he walked up to a car and a man who lured him there to talk blasted him point blank and sped away. Wild wild west…
Again in Williamsbridge, a man got shot three times while he was sitting on a stoop.
In Kingsbridge, an off-duty police sergeant was caught passed out drunk behind the wheel of his parked car.
In Baychester, a man got shot at multiple times on the street in broad daylight drive by. The cops got a beat on the car the assailant was in on the highway but lost them, or they gave up the pursuit and let them get away depending how you look at it.
In the South Bronx, a gang of men and women beat down a woman and robbed her purse while she waiting about to give her order at Mickey D’s and then the lynch mob beat down a woman who tried to protect her and stole her purse too.

Also in Claremont, the killer of twin baby girls is still on the loose five months after their bodies were left in an alley behind an apartment building.
Again in Claremont, a man got shot in front of a bodega and died from his wounds weeks later.
In Fordham Heights and also in Morissania and Claremont, two men held up a bodega, a gas station and a deli at knifepoint and robbed $7,200 in a span of two months using the same game plan where one holds the blade and the other roughs up the powerless worker as they raid the tills. Then they crossed the bridge and hit a deli at Washington Heights and threatened a worker at knifepoint and robbed $500.
Also in Fordham Heights, a 2-year-old girl wound up in the hospital after munching on her brother’s marijuana gummy candies.
In Norwood, a man got pissed at a city bus driver when he couldn’t sneak through the back door for a free ride and then went to the front and punched him and spat on him. Wonder is this fool knows they stopped allowing free bus rides 8 months ago or he was just being a cheap dick.
In Olinville, a fugitive killer that was stupidly released from Rikers Island on a clerical who has been on the loose for over a month was tracked down by a deployment of 20 cops and re-incarcerated as he awaits his murder trial.

In Parkchester, a man stalked another man walking towards a playground who noticed a drugged out man nodding out on a bench and thought he needed aid as the stalker walked by him, then turned around, whipped out a gun and shot him to death. The vagrant was left alone. The Samaritan and victim leaves behind a wife pregnant with twins and two little girls age 7 and 3 and a 2 year-old son.
In Westchester Square, a three-old boy afflicted with Down’s syndrome fell five stories from his bedroom window after he moved cardboard that was filled to block space left from an air conditioner.
In Riverdale, a man threw rocks and shattered the windows at four synagogues in two straight nights. The vandal also stole prayer books and left them splayed in a parking lot doused with hand sanitizer(probably to burn them) and stole a bicycle from one of them. The vandal got caught on the stolen bike by cops who nabbed him riding it against the flow of traffic and after he broke a windshield on a van.
As a judge was about to spring the vandal loose without bail because he didn’t hurt anyone physically while committing his acts of destruction, another judge overruled her and set a $20,000 bail for his release.
In North Shore, a police precinct set up a gun buyback program, giving away Ipads and cash to those with the conscience to turn in their weapons. Let’s see how it turned out in Shaolin…
In Port Richmond, a man held up a discount store at gunpoint and robbed a cellphone.
Also in Port Richmond, a man held up a wine store at gunpoint and robbed a bottle of vino and $1,200. Before he got pinched a few clicks away on a bridge to Jersey, the gun toting skell held up a deli and two grocery stores in a month.
Again in Port Richmond, a man shot another man to death in a house where both men rented single room occupancies.
In Clifton, a 17-year-old boy was caught by cops in possession of a .38 and a 9mm.

Also in Mariners Harbor, a man fired his gun on the street while loitering on the corner with his friends.
In West Brighton, cops caught a man trying to abandon a bullet damaged car with ammunition and fireworks inside on the street.
Also in West Brighton, a man got slashed on his torso on the street in broad daylight.
Again in West Brighton, cops in a marked patrol car responding to gunfire on the street collided with a livery cab which then hit a town car on impact. Then the patrol car wound up veering onto the sidewalk and hit a 72-year-old woman standing at a bus stop.
And again in West Brighton, an argument between two men in front of a deli escalated when one of the men took out a gun and shot the other in his legs to settle the dispute.

In Bullshead, a man grabbed a woman’s ass while she was standing at a bus stop.
In New Dorp, a woman got killed when she got hit by car while jaywalking against the light.
In Oakwood Heights, a 62-year-old woman got killed by a car making a turn as she was walking in the crosswalk.
As the weather warms up and pandemic restrictions get gradually lifted, an expected influx of rats will forage from the scraps and trashf orm with open restaurants and open streets and pretty soon after this big muther gives birth, the open streets will be visited by a pack of hungry raccoons as well.
Sugardaddy’s, Long Island City, under the L.I.E.
If heaven is missing an angel, then hell is missing a gentleman.
It took a while, considering how low he’s polling in the mayor’s race, but Comptroller Scott Stringer finally got the dough to put out his first campaign ad.
At a cost of one million dollars, which is derived from taxpayers dollars because of the very bad matching funds law, Stringer’s ad touts his past accomplishments in big font letters as he dramatically walks in an apartment hallway and on the street. It climaxes with the candidate doing an aw shucks shrug.
As with Stringer’s struggling campaign and platform which looks to continue de Blasio’s horrendous policies (and which also is not distinguishable from the other 6 or 7 candidates), the ad contains a very obvious and hilarious flaw.
Looks like Stinger’s hapless campaign staffers should have vetted this ad more carefully. They would have avoided this unfortunate misuse of words if they used black font or just relied on the husky-voiced melodramatic narrator.
But this is the least of Scottie’s problems now. For he has become another self-sabotaged fauxgressive mark of his own now there are allegations that he also abused his power and fostered a culture of intimidation with his own sexual harassment scandal.
A former intern for New York City comptroller and mayoral candidate Scott Stringer accused the politician of sexual abuse and harassment on Tuesday.
The woman, who was not named in a press release from attorney Patricia Pastor, said Stringer repeatedly groped her when he was a member of the New York Assembly and running for Public Advocate of NYC. He’d allegedly offered to get the woman a role as district leader. The woman, then an unpaid intern, accused him of telling her to keep the alleged sexual misconduct a secret.
“It’s unfortunately all too common that women report having been touched sexually without consent, and often men who engage this way are in a position of power and influence over the woman,” Pastor said. “I have great respect for women who choose to say, ‘enough is enough.’”
A spokesperson for Stringer’s mayoral campaign declined to comment on the accusations against him.
Stringer recently called on Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign amid mounting claims of sexual harassment made against the governor.
This comes out the day Scott tries to get his ass more recognizable in the primary race for mayor. Kismet sure is a bitch.
(Can it be any more easier to see why Cuomo prefers not to resign).
Astoria, Queens, New York
Saturday in the park. Not the 4th of July, but the firework spectacle of celebrity and politics was in display at Astoria Park under a clear blue sky with the Triborough Bridge in the background for about an hour and change as Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez arrived and gave a speech at a rally for her Green New Deal legislative proposal and also a protest against the new power plant in Astoria that’s being proposed by NRG Energy (what a redundant name for a corporation), which according to the congresswoman, her political allies from the Democrat Socialists Association and various environmental activist groups hanging banners and displaying tables around the grassy knoll, will be powered by fracked gas and will be an existential threat to the health and environment to the residents of the NE Queens neighborhood despite claims from NRG that emissions from the new plant won’t be that severe (suuuurrre).
For someone as massively huge on monopolized social media and corporate cable news, the crowd awaiting her was quite modest. And quite predominantly White if anyone is concerned about that sort of thing.
And for a event featuring a politician of such magnitude, there were hardly any elected officials or politicians campaigning for office in attendance.
After a speech ranting against the new power plant by Senator Jessica Ramos, anticipation was sort of building for the arrival of Rep. Ocasio-Cortez as one of the organizers told the crowd she was running late, citing bad traffic for her arrival, but it didn’t elicit much of a reaction (although it’s a tad off-putting that for someone holding a rally against dirty energy would need to take a vehicle to speak against it). But it wasn’t for long as she surprisingly popped out of nowhere with her entourage and security from behind in the parking lot with some media in tow which made a clear path for her to enter and make a nice 15 minute speech plugging the Green New Deal that’s designed to save the climate and economy.
Then she took it to the stage..
AOC’s speech was for lack of a better word, nice. Actually, there is a better word for it-meh. In fact, the crux of her stump address for the new revolution in climate friendly energy sourcing and job creation were basically already stated in various signs across the lawn, on protest signs and on banners hanging from tables. Plus the speech seem to be tailored for certain quotes to be isolated for videos on the Now This twitter account.
While most of her speech basically derived from the messaging surrounding the grounds, the frustratingly problematic parts of her speech was when she mistakenly on purpose conflated her Green New Deal resolution as a revolution and brought up how it will lead to other resolutions (or revolutions) like the ratification of a federal $15/hr. minimum wage and the way overdue Medicare For All, the latter of which should have been prioritized during the pandemic as COVID still will not go away because of new variants that will put the most vulnerable people (like essential on the street gig workers) with no insurance in the hospital and with Big Pharma corporations announcing that a third vaccination will surely be a necessity. Surely unbeknownst to the adoring crowd in Astoria Park, AOC and her fellow and new “Squad” members in Congress had every chance to force the vote for Medicare For All by holding out on confirming Nancy Pelosi’s reign as House Speaker (while stopping her continuing profiting from her position) in order to get Med4All on the house floor and she and her allies collectively chose not to. And did the same for the minimum wage raise weeks later.
Another distinguished thing about her speech is how she used certain words to cap it off by describing accomplishing the goals of the Green New Deal as “the How, the Why and the What”, words she used ineptly to describe how to end the perpetual Israeli-Palestenian conflict going on for over 75 years which didn’t sound much different but as cockamamie as Donald Rumsfeld’s geopolitical theory of “unknown knowns” to justify invading and occupying Iraq for over a decade.
And speaking of Force the Vote and how AOC didn’t, this little booster table set up for her speech stood out on the field. Something called “Claim the Vote”, which is a total and lame co-opting of the legendary social media hashtag started by Jimmy Dore back in November when the Dem’s took over the House (and later would tie the Senate).
I don’t know how a vote needs to be “claimed” and I regret not asking these two, thinking that this will be available on the internets but a few engine and social media searches brought up bupkus. And I probably would have got into an argument with these folks about it and even though I’m still banned from twitter where I criticized AOC frequently, the last thing I need is for her, her aides or her AOC-hive sending highway patrol troopers to my abode.
It’s also why I didn’t bother engaging with her in person despite having an opportunity to do so, for the line for the meet and greet went on for a mile and social distancing was not being recognized (as if the media circus circling around her wasn’t clustered enough). Even though my blog was one of the only ones locally in Queens to cover and endorse her, the other being Queens Crap where I wrote the admin about her potential to beat long time establishment hack Joe Crowley, and was actually very proud of her victory after she worked hard to earn it.
Since then it’s been a lot of disappointment. Mostly since she’s been re-elected and her obeisance to the Democrat establishment and her obsession and occupying most her time to her social media accounts. And her humiliating embellishments of how her life was in danger when the U.S. Capitol was being invaded and she was nowhere near there and Trump’s junta LARPers were nowhere near the building she was hiding in which led to her disturbing calls to ban expression and speech of her social media foes and critics in addition to squandering her power and influence as a celebrity politician.
If anything this event shown it was all a virtue signalling performance tweet thread played out in 3D. Even though it was meant to stop a power plant they didn’t want in Astoria, AOC and her GND allies didn’t even consider or acknowledge why the new power plant is being proposed. And that’s because of all the new towers that have gone up in NE Queens in Astoria and Long Island City. It wasn’t long ago when a transformer exploded on New Years Eve a few years ago. Everybody blamed the Gozer, but it surely was from the collective occupation of the new monolithic towers condensed on the East River and there’s already been more towers built and even more to come And those fracking pipelines AOC and the GND posse are against being installed underground in Brooklyn are surely there to supply all the tower pestilence that is going up on that line too from Brownsville to Greenpoint and pretty soon with the amount of luxury public housing that’s been approved for Gowanus. The point is that for all the talking points about green energy that was said by AOC for 15 minutes and two hours by other concerned activists on that lawn is not going to matter dick because the infrastructure for the energy system was already established. Plus there has been a substantial amount of new luxury towers built in her district in the Bronx too since she’s been in office. All of this over-development has occurred without a minute consideration for adapting to climate change and is still reliant on fossil fuels (although some of these buildings has a few trees on the roof for the tower people to enjoy). Being a working resident of NYC, Where the fuck has the congresswoman been the last 8 years, no less three as an official?
And AOC’s plan to protect public housing by putting it under the Green New Deal has immensely back fired, as NYCHA and the Fed’s RAD and de Blasio’s PACT has residents cutting down on fossil fuels by austerity as they cover themselves in extra blankets and subsist on meals prepared for hours on single burner hot plates.
But this Green New Deal/Anti-NRG event did get a nice turnout and some adorable pics for the establishment firebrand congresswoman of the 14th District. For what was in essence a safe space for her, her base and political action org allies.
Departing from the park, the song Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology) was being blasted from a bluetooth speaker by a Black couple chilling out on the grass under the tree. It was actually the only genuine moment that was being expressed about the existential threat of climate change. But I heard that song a thousand times before already so I kept walking. Which is probably how people, including yours truly, will react to AOC and her Green New Deal if it doesn’t progress from platitudes about how to make this new system of renewable energy and millions of jobs to make it work manifest.
Elmhurst, Queens, New York
Here’s a true story of domestic terror and chilling impunity. No names have been changed because there mostly aren’t really any.
It happened on a cold early morning just an hour before sunrise, 6 days before Christmas, a 5-alarm fire engulfed a three family house. The inferno spread so rapaciously that it instantly killed three men as they desperately tried to flee while trapped in their rooms, their only exit was sliding doors by the balcony on the second floor, which were locked. It also torched the three floor house attached to it, making both structures inhabitable.
Before the deadly blaze the house was proficiently and exceedingly habitable. Since the fire was extinguished, a lot of mystery still surrounds this tragedy. Not much is known about the tenants; especially their names which have not been identified, notably the three who perished in the inferno except for their ethnicity. The one tenant who survived the destruction and the deaths, also refused to be identified.
This house had an incredible lengthy record of housing violations going back 4 years with over $200,000 in fines. Mostly in the last two years, the former landlord had repurposed what was once a nice two family house and transformed it into a makeshift boarding house with single room occupations constructing seven rooms on each floor from the basement to the attic. Even the garage wasn’t spared as the original landlord Mumarrawa Mahmood managed to convert it into a rental where the superintendent of the house lived and added more dwellings to it even after repeated visits and fines by the Department Of Buildings.
Whatever fines the original landlord accrued by subdividing the house probably got evened out with the monthly or weekly rents that were provided by dozens of tenants occupying all those SROs; the superintendent of the illegally converted home paid 700 a month (usually supers live rent free in apt. buildings). Now multiply that by about 10 or 20 as was claimed in a complaint by a prospect “tenant” in January this year. One of the last complaints filed to the DOB was by a person who was looking to rent a room and described 60 people occupying the house at once.
Although even with all that non-taxed cash flowing in from this ratchet set up it was still not enough to avoid foreclosure.
When the original landlord decided to finally unload it after gradually gutting it for 4 years, it got purchased by an LLC consisting of the new landlord and a bank from Texas last February. The LLC wasted no time making their presence felt as they attempted to force out the tenants from their SRO’s by shutting off the heat or buying them out after the DOB put a full vacate order at the start of the year.
The final DOB building violation report and full vacate order on the house took place on the morning after it burned down.
The internal dilapidation cited in years of violations from the illegal construction manifested itself as the house burned. The roof that was cited in the DOB’s records easily collapsed during the blaze as the second floor ceiling also dropped on the firefighters while they were extinguishing the inferno.
The day after the fire, the FDNY put up a table down the block from the destroyed house on the pedestrian triangle on Corona Ave and 90th Street, displayed with safety brochures and flyers, even though the investigation of the blaze was not concluded. This gave off a predetermination by the department and also by the city that the fire was the fault of the tenants.
The following day after the table got packed up, FDNY marshals determined that the early morning blaze was deliberately set off by an accelerant substance and security camera footage showed a man walking inside and then coming out of the house in a short amount of time. Now the premature result from what was initially thought as carelessness by tenants has turned into a possible cases of arson and homicide in less than 24 hours.
After concluding criminal intent was involved in the fire, the FDNY drew a warrant for the landlord and owner of the house and with the NYPD, found his residence in Flushing. During a search of his SUV, dogs sniffed out gloves with traces of the accelerant that set off the inferno inside the vehicle. The NYPD confiscated tech devices from the suspect, notably digital recording devices and a portable hard drive. Despite the procurement of this evidence and the apparent motive to evict the residents, the landlord and only suspect, Eric Chen, was not arrested.
Four months have passed since the house burned down and there has been apparently no follow up on this story from local news despite the fact that arson was the cause of the inferno that destroyed this house and incinerated three men alive. Also evident is the utter lack of a follow up and seeming abandonment of the case by city department enforcement despite the debris from the blaze still present on the ground in front of the garage door.
What also remains from this destruction is the still smouldering odor of acrid smoke and flesh. But what also lingers in the ether here is the fact that an act of cold blooded murder was committed with impunity.
And never mind the evidence of arson that was easily found and sourced, what’s clearly evident is the motive. The new owners of the foreclosed house immediately was trying to sell it and it’s clear that they were champing at the bit to unload it because of COVID-19 and before the eviction moratorium was ratified by state and federal law (per Centers of Disease Control). Those that remained, initially suspected and maligned as squatters even by the superintendent who was occupying a room on the first floor, probably refused to leave because of their rights to shelter in place, reasonable considering that Elmhurst was the epicenter of the epicenter of the pandemic exactly a year ago and they were in their rights to remain in the house. Despite the shutdown and new regulations to protect the public from spreading contagion, the landlord still resorted to cut off the power in the house, but was forced to restore it after the residents made a 311 complaint. As the remaining residents continued to avoid paying rent for months because of the rent moratorium, that must have been the tipping point for the LLC owners of the house.
Another mystery is how none of the footage has been publicly released, which reportedly shows a man rushing in and out of the house and a sudden burst of flames by the front door and garage. Being that we live in an age of viral video mayhem and how the NYPD usually displays security cam footage on their own twitter, it’s amazing how this one didn’t warrant the attention it would have surely got, especially from the 24/7 streaming news sites and local news stations. Something as extreme as arson and murder should have warranted national attention as well.
de Blasio’s Department Of Buildings insouciance is all over this too, for there hasn’t been a single update of violations since the murderous inferno despite the mess laying outside for passerby to see and for neighbors to tolerate.
What’s not a mystery is the way this house was run and assembled in the 2 years under the previous owner; as a boarding house for hundreds of the housing insecure because of the criminally insufficient lack of affordable housing in NYC, which was undermined by the Housing for Preservation and Development Department’s prioritizing building public housing for the upper middle class. (Although it’s also quite possible that this charred house was repurposed as a hotel also for Airbnb).
This house must have been a sanctuary for the victims of this city’s perpetual housing crisis (especially in two terms under Mayor de Blasio), especially those working check to check and undocumented immigrants, essential workers mostly doing gig jobs delivering food or driving for apps and working construction building towers they will never afford to live in.
Meanwhile, the suspect (or suspects considering that two other tenants that were still living there weren’t home at the time when the blaze was set off) is still at large and nothing has been updated concerning the LLC that bought the house or the landlord who was found with the incriminating evidence in his car. But the record of the homicidal zeal to get rid of the holdout residents of the Elmhurst Horror is documented in the few stories that remain about this act of literal domestic terror, which resembles in essence the gangster hit jobs in iconic scenes from movies like the Untouchables and Goodfellas.
Moments before his home caught fire on Dec. 19, the man, who asked not to be identified, was jolted awake by a strange noise — and then thrown into darkness. The first floor tenant, who had been paying about $700 a month rent, said he and about half a dozen others living in the Elmhurst home had struggled with new landlords in recent months, claiming they wanted them out of the building — even at one point turning off the utilities.
It was like the sound of a gas burner before it ignites, he recalled.
Because of months of collective indifference from the accounted and unaccounted authorities, the latter being our elected officials who have not even bothered to acknowledge this monstrous tragedy, and also from the absentee LLC owners of this destroyed home, the inevitability of another craven and wanton act will assuredly manifest. And they don’t even have to ditch the evidence or clean up after themselves.
If anything that confirms the allegory that evictions are violence, look no further than this homicidal pyre of the housing insecure and the ruin that still remains in plain sight and living color. And the city’s complicity in allowing this site and this black market “affordable housing” system to fester is the biggest horror of them all.
New York City, New York
There should be no more fucking doubts about who Mayor Big Slow de Blasio prefers to serve, besides himself and his running gag political career. This dumbass decided to devote 30 million dollars from President Biden’s stimulus recovery bill for an ad campaign begging tourists to come back to New York City. Showing once again that he is more concerned for the leisure of visitors than for services for his constituents who still go wanting.
Although this ludicrous boondoggle city p.r. campaign is supposed to start in June, it’s clear that this money was already
spent wasted before the Blaz announced it in the most surreal daily briefing he has done so far during the still existing pandemic for a video produced by the city’s office of tourism, NYC And Company (a city government bureaucratic agency that really has absolutely no use for the residents of the five boroughs).
NYC and Co already gets about 3 million dollars in funding each year, somehow The Blaz feels that they should get 10 times that amount to use for a few months. And it’s quite egregious that the first video they put out mostly promotes upscale lifestyle leisure with two wealthy White men dining on overpriced comfort food in an open restaurant shanty on a street curb. Another egregious thing about this tone-deaf b-roll is NYC & Co closed the comment thread on their youtube channel, preventing taxpayers from venting their displeasure with wasting city money or from making compliments for the agency vain optics of the city’s “reawakening”.
This is just another extension of the Blaz’s mostly vainglorious “Recovery For All Of Us” mission to bring NYC back to normalcy, despite the pressing problematic issues that is inconveniencing and surely delaying it, with COVID variants infecting younger people, a still high amount in cases in various zip codes in the five boroughs and citizens losing confidence in the vaccines after the suspension of the J & J vaccines, even though they have finally been made more accessible with walk-in sites just opened up and in chain pharmacies.
What’s truly obscene about the Blaz’s announcement is that it follows his revival and revision of last year’s “summer all-in” program to get guns off the street and his decision to finally send more cops in Midtown to remove homeless people and stop open street drug abuse where this tourist fueled reawakening is going to take place. This also follows his idiotic behavior and attention to prioritize art and culture over quality of life as major felonies and bias attacks against Asian people escalated in the first 3 months of the recovery for all of us.
The way The Blaz re-allocated fed funding to his equally oblivious upper class crony at the NYC & Co office shows once again that he has no concept of how to budget, especially during an emergency like the pandemic that’s still plaguing the city he has been running into the ground and which he’s trying to cover up with circuses and bread for his fauxgressive neoliberal entertainers, the only constituency he’s been mostly concerned with.
The Blaz must think 30 million dollars is not that much money, which continues his proclivity for funding mostly feel good programs that signify nothing and inevitably doesn’t help anyone, the most devastating of all being his co-mayor and wife’s Thrive mental health program and office. Too bad he couldn’t allocate this money to programs and services that could alleviate the many existential crises that would bring actual meaning to his recovery for all of us.
Some of that 30 million dollars could help NYCHA buildings, which is still in horrendous shape as de Blasio’s PACT program has exacerbated environmental and infrastructure hazards in apartments, hallways and stairwells. Maybe it could have led to some elevator and doorbell repairs or a few cameras and personnel to do security being that gang violence and other crime as gone up around the buildings again.
That 30 million could have went to provide health services and secure shelters for the thousands of homeless people on the streets suffering from mental illness or drug addiction. It’s going to be interesting to see how NYC & CO’s commercials are going to convince tourists and transients to visit the city while most of the hotels are still housing homeless people who suffer from these aforementioned maladies and recidivist criminals placed there after being released without bail. But that money could have went to people forced into homelessness after being displaced from their neighborhoods from fires, like what happened most recently in Richmond Hill and Jackson Heights. The 30 mill could have went to free Wifi and quality laptops to homeless children living in shelters or working poor families that live far from the lights on Broadway.
This 30 million could be used for the basics of city services. Increasing transit service by hiring more drivers, fixing storm drains and catch basins, reallocate funding for sanitation and restoring more hours for corner trash pickups and all fixing all the fucking potholes and cracks on the streets, avenues and boulevards.
But the most interesting and overlooked thing this 30 million could be used for, especially how often de Blasio speaks about equity, is to implement a Universal Basic Income stimulus for the poorest citizens of NYC until the merciful end of his final term as mayor. Doing this would also put a crimp into Andrew Yang’s own campaign for mayor, since it’s the most recognizable policy of his platform.
What’s really amusing about the Mayor’s reckless misuse of fed stimulus cash to produce commercials which he proclaimed was the biggest in the history of NYC is that Andy Yang actually pointed out not long ago when Biden sent the stimulus funds to NYC, he gave pretty good sage advice not to waste any and leave the next mayor hanging without aid in case the city still hasn’t recovered (or reawakened) and the Blaz immediately and arrogantly dismissed it by claiming that to keep government working for the people validates the urgency to spend it, which was also backed up by Yang’s competitor and de Blasio’s former consigliere moll Maya Wiley.
Sadly, the Mayor’s RFAOU initiative is all about optics and illusions plus delusions and the persistent optics of blight and inequity will befall on his constituents as essential and safety net services go wanting as all that fed money will go to a useless bureaucratic office whose only purpose is as a bean counter and guesstimator for the city’s tourist populace. Never mind the fact that it was because of the city’s dependence on tourism for decades is why the city is still deserted, broke and dependent on federal aid and a big factor on how COVID-19 spread across the nation and the world in the winter of 2020. But the Blaz will not relent, because he still has his emergency powers and the new and most essential emergency is to ensure that his true base, the transients, are milling and mingling around the biggest destinations of Manhattan like it’s 2014-2019 again.
And he’s not going to let anything like reality get in the way of that.
