New York Times

With New York City’s mayoral primary a little more than three months away and a deadline to qualify for the city’s generous matching-funds program having just passed, pleas for donations have been in overdrive in recent days. But in the background, another spigot of money has quietly opened for two Democratic mayoral candidates who are trailing in early polls: Raymond J. McGuire and Shaun Donovan.

An independent expenditure committee for Mr. McGuire, a former Wall Street executive, has garnered more than $3 million since Feb. 1, with more than 70 donations from business magnates, including Kenneth Langone, the billionaire co-founder of Home Depot; the art world philanthropist Agnes Gund; and the real estate developer Aby J. Rosen.

A new super PAC for Mr. Donovan, a former cabinet member in the Obama administration, in contrast, has drawn $1.02 million from just two donors — the primary benefactor being his father, Michael Donovan, an executive in the ad tech industry who donated $1 million.

In an interview, Mr. Donovan, the candidate’s father, said he was trying to “level the playing field,” particularly since some candidates began raising money before they even declared they were running for mayor.

“I can’t give very much to Shaun directly, and seeing the amount of money McGuire had raised and all these other people, I felt he needed enough to go out and compete and get the message across,” Mr. Donovan said.

In other words, Shaun Donavon, a man who recently turned 55 years old and worked for Mayor Mike Bloomberg and President Obama, saw his current predicament in the mayor’s race and said:

“DADDY I WANNA BE MAYOR OF NEW YORK CITY RIGHT NOW!!!!”

“GIMME A MILLION DOLLAAAARRRSSS!!!”

It’s not even worth going into why he’s running and why he’ll be a shit mayor just like the current shit mayor who’s been stinking up city hall for 7.3 years, but to summarize Shaunny will not to do a thing to improve the housing crisis and the continuing demolition by neglect of public housing in the five boroughs considering they never improved in his time running city housing in New York and Housing and Urban Development in the White House.

But the focus should not only be on the infinitely cancerous influence of money and politics that’s destroying democracy stemming from the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision, because there are so many piles of rancid corrupted shit involved in Shaun’s pop trying to salvage his floundering and now incestuous mayoral campaign. Daddy Donovan is not only his son’s number one financier, but he’s on the board of the slick public relations firm MediaOcean that’s been fueling Shaun’s campaign media exposure. To make this more nauseating, Shaun’s current raise on his allowance is designed to qualify for public matching campaign funds which would him to accrue 9x the amount of every individual (person) donation under 2,000. Campaign funding that comes directly from city taxpayer dollars.

This brazen purchasing of the primary by Shaun’s dad is that besides him there’s only one person that feels he’s qualified to run City Hall. Even more pathetic is that Shaun’s dad thinks his son’s (inevitable) absence from the race is some form of voter disenfranchisement and not because he can’t keep up with his competitors whether on the issues or fundraising. Especially with the latter, considering Shaun must have been jelly about Ray McGuire’s rapid money bundling from corporations and celebrities.

Another thing about Shaun Donovan and his pop trying to buy recognition and relevance in the mayor’s race is that this fits in with the demographic profile and stereotype of the hipster transients that moved to  Brooklyn. It’s no coincidence that Shaun was running the HPD Dept. under Bloomberg, running his housing and development policies that fostered the rapid overvalued speculative real estate market rate with renters dependent on their parents financing their rents while living lavishly beyond their means, which led to hyper gentrification and tower pestilence as the germination of Brooklyn’s gentrification that began in Williamsburg and creeped into nearby middle and working class towns like Bushwick and Bed-Stuy.

If there is anything to gleam by this passive patronage by Donavon and Son from the insipid article by the Times is the obvious toxic internecine connections involved in Shaun’s PAC is that the treasurer handling his million dollar allowance Brittany Wise previously worked on de Blasio’s 2013 mayoral campaign. The Blaz’s campaign manager Bill Hyers is reunited with Ms. Wise as advisor for Donovan’s farcical campaign. Overlooked in the Times article is that Shaun’s dad’s “ad tech” firm’s CEO goes by the name of Bill Wise. Doesn’t say if Brittany is his wife or sibling, but the kismet is super strong here.

But it’s not kismet, it’s establishment. Shaun is a spoiled manchild but he’s not naive. He was there when Bloomberg was buying the mayor’s office by spending 100 million dollars on ads to numb people into voting for him and in a way not to vote at all from being fatigued from his overexposure, and then how he bought other oligarchs and city council to run for an illegal third term.

And surely Shaun got inspired by the current Hizzoner; even though Mayor de Blasio has been a verified disaster at his job, he’s shown to be an idiot savant when it comes to filthy lucre fundraising, starting with his bribe and straw donor laden 501 c 4 he ran in City Hall with the Campaign For One New York to his shell game money laundering stylings with his two PAC funds he ran during his farcical presidential run in 2019 and was still able to escape unscathed even when he got sloppy with donors who themselves got indicted for the crime of giving him bribes and getting access to services as the Blaz had the good fortune of the SCOTUS McDonnell decision that legalized the acceptance of government bribes.

Top this off with the normalization of impunity in New York as Governor Cuomo continues to run the state and the pandemic response while being overwhelmed with three heinous corruption scandals with two federal investigations and near universal calls for his resignation and is still laughing it up in daily briefings with clearly intimidated brownnosing aides and officials and legendary Mets and Yankee pitchers like everything is still new normal.

Which is why Shaun Donavan and his Daddy’s flacks get in cognitive dissonance mode about their honest and wholesome graft, as plain and obvious as it is. They might not emerge victorious from this stunt, but they have set a new precedent and a newer normal for campaign fundraising and ultimately political patronage.

It’s new values for a  newer normal in a New New York.

Yeah? Well, then normal is fucked.

de Blasio’s Citywide Administration Services Allowed Contractors To Swindle The City By Sending The Wrong Face Masks During The Start Of Pandemic

William Wilhelm de Blasio, the mayor of New York City (your city) seemingly proves once again how disconnected he is from the agencies that are under his auspice and the money that flows like a water out of a firehose from them even during a pandemic and an induced economic crisis.

THE CITY

Last spring, frontline medical workers scrambled in vain to find proper surgical masks as the coronavirus swept through hospitals across the city.

Doctors, nurses and medical technicians were forced to reuse the same mask over and over — a dangerously ineffective method to stem infection from a virus that’s now taken the lives of more than 24,000 New Yorkers.

City officials jumped into action, signing more than $1 billion in emergency no-bid contracts with seemingly anybody who claimed they could produce high-quality masks and other crucial COVID gear — including ventilators.

Among them: Genuine Parts Company, an Atlanta-based firm that specializes in auto parts. The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS), which handles most of City Hall’s purchases, had bought parts for city vehicles from Genuine in the past.

An auto parts company from Atlanta?? Why?  And for what kind of city vehicles? Being that de Blasio’s DCAS felt that they can entrust them to deliver PPE’s to the virus frontline workers…

Go on…

According to internal records obtained by THE CITY, DCAS paid $348,000 for what was described by Genuine as 300,000 “non-Latex surgical masks” that were marked as “received” by the city on April 7. That was at the peak of the virus’ spread in New York City, when the seven-day average for daily hospitalizations hit 1,642, compared to this week’s 52.

But records show that when DCAS’ Bureau of Quality Assurance inspected the delivered goods, workers discovered not surgical masks but “disposable single-use non-surgical mask/dust mask/Not FDA approved.”

The items were nevertheless deemed “accepted due to public necessity.” DCAS paid full price and placed subsequent orders for more masks from the car parts dealer, records show. DCAS then “redirected” the masks — useless in emergency rooms — elsewhere for non-medical use.

The Genuine mask purchase is part of a disturbing pattern uncovered during an investigation by THE CITY of DCAS’ pandemic-spurred emergency buying spree.

During some of the most dire weeks of the crisis, THE CITY found, the agency lost track of key equipment from masks to ventilators — driving an exasperated DCAS official to declare in one early May meeting: “Stop this s—t! Stop this s—t! Fix the problem!”

And guess who also was involved in this honest incompetence graft? The Blaz’s art dealer buddy Charlie Trebele, the city’s COVID “essential” “first responder”  Contractor Gadget .

A similar scenario unfolded with another vendor, Digital Gadgets, an electronics firm whose CEO, Charlie Tebele, along with family members, has been a frequent donor to de Blasio’s various political campaigns.

In late March, DCAS awarded $19 million in no-bid contracts to Digital for high quality N95 masks and lower quality KN95 masks. That included an $8 million contract for what the firm promised would be two million “surgical grade N95s,” according to internal DCAS documents.

19? How droll to match the estimate with the disease. Contractor Gadget also gave the same digits backwards and higher.

The company also won a $91 million contract to provide DCAS with ventilators that was later cancelled because, Benson told THE CITY, the agency “decided to order a different ventilator model.”

Digital Gadgets — which previously supplied hoverboards to QVC — did deliver masks. But DCAS records reveal that the agency’s Bureau of Quality Assurance discovered the masks Digital delivered were not “surgical grade N95s” as promised and had not been approved by either the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.

So the corporations the city depended on to ship face masks and ventilators depended on a company not even from New York that already was contracted for auto supplies to city service vehicles and a company that makes toys for tech bobos. And both of those PPE’s were cheap knockoffs. Sure sounds like these companies grifted the city real good with the expenses they saved by skimping on the products at the expense of doctors, nurses, nursing home aides and tens of thousands of lives in New York City during the worse and most deadly time in the first few months of the pandemic.

GPC is a big national corporation, but Contractor Gadget Charlie’s company basically sells crap that’s mostly seen on T.V.. He’s also benefited quite nicely from his investments aka donations to de Blasio’s mayoral and farcical presidential campaign and the corrupted yet legal 501 c 4 PAC fund run by the mayor in City Hall, the Campaign For One New York; not only with a a government appointed seat on the COVID economic recovery task force collective gifted by the Blaz, Chuckles also was able to pay the mortgage to his Upper East Side townhouse with the emergency funding gifted to his company for his imitation PPE provisions to the city’s hospitals and nursing homes. Pretty sweet for a company that had a failing grade from the Better Business Bureau at the time (and present time).

This has drawn the ire of City Comptroller and mayoral candidate Scott Stringer who has been trying to get information about these tainted contracts for months, but his signifying nothing fury is laughable because he allowed the Blaz to authorize executive power over the city’s pandemic response which included total control over these contracts and their fiscal costs, which rendered his duties to monitor these checks and balances null and void and made his position as an elected official useless and neutered.

de Blasio’s an idiot savant. He may not know shit about preparing for a crisis and evidently leading a city during one, but his brain cells get energized the second an opportunity comes up to make sure anyone who gave him money immediately gets a cherry contract with the city.

Despicable Bastard

Mayor de Blasio Makes Unprecedented N.Y.C. History By Firing His Department Of Investigation Chief Mark Peters

https://impunitycity.files.wordpress.com/2018/11/ec92e-bdbscared.jpg

New York, N.Y.

The mayor waited a while since the release of a draft letter crafted by his (technically ours) city attorneys calling for the removal of Department of Investigations head honcho Mark Peters but they finally got it. He did not even strategically wait until this holiday weekend to do it too.

But de Blasio did strategize and machinate for about a year to sack him in order to selfishly avoid the bad optics and pathetically evade suspicions for firing the historically independent top investigator of department bureaucracies. Which under this corrupt and stupid mayor have all become shambling shitshows.

These two one-time allies for liberal causes and accountability have took quite the 180 degree turn since Peters was financing de Blasio’s 2013 campaign which the mayor thanked his friend with an immediate patronage hire for the D.O.I. position. But something wicked happened in the first couple of years, de Blasio spent the majority of his mayoralty distracted with boosting his national profile, forming and running a shady PAC fundraiser in city hall, and spending time and money in burgeoning court hearings involving that illicit fundraising while Peters actually and dutifully concentrated on doing his job and noticed a tons of malfeasance and corruption going on in almost every city office, the standouts being the Administration of Childrens Services, NYCHA, Department of Education, Department of Homeless Services, Department of Buildings and even the NYPD.

Reading Mark Peters letter to City Council, the impression it gives is that de Blasio had been hoping that Peters would let all of his political discrepancies and repulsive influence peddling and pandering slide. It also shows Peters as a man who saw all this endemic crooked behavior effecting city policies and services and was probably driven nuts by the efforts by de Blasio’s minions as they undermined him whether by collusion as what led to his ouster by firing an aide over an authority and agency shakeup at the BOE; or by intimidation as Peters cites one meeting with a top brass cop flashing his piece; or by petty tribal insults as his former colleague Deputy Anthony Shorris derided Peters as an asshole and not a “real friend”.

You gotta wonder what a toll this took on Peters psyche, seeing a guy he raised money for and believed in him turn into a colossal two faced back stabbing prick as he filled his cabinet with like-minded soulless amoral sycophants and opportunists.

Well, de Blasio no longer has to worry about his former friend that he threw under the bus since he got elected and will now insert a person that will be expected to give a veneer of independence and transparency while giving fealty to Bill the whole time, so his honest grafting in City Hall will continue unabated. That way he will be able to waltz around town on occasion, jab an accusatory finger at reporters and escape from New York time to time to promote his progressive activist charades.

But it’s not all bad, despite this brief respite from the facts that incriminated Mayor de Faustio, he still has to deal with the citizens despite his concerted effort to hide from them too. Because a few months ago while Bill de Bastard was dithering like a coward to fire Peters so the optics wouldn’t look horrible (even though it still does), there was a homeless 72-year-old woman named Nathylin Flowers Adesegun that wanted to do some intrepid sleuthing of her own:

Knowing that the snowflake mayor stops at the Park Slope Y during his entire morning ritual every fucking day commuting to Park Row, Ms. Flowers Adesegun, along with housing activist group VOCAL-NY, walked up to where he was “doing yoga” sitting on the floor holding his Blackberry and kindly asked him how come there wasn’t a sufficient amount of “affordable housing” for the homeless and he told her that “he wasn’t doing this right now because he was “working out” and scurried away from her with his NYPD security guards.

Now what Nathylin exposed here wasn’t only what an reprehensible elitist scumbag and shameless liar who betrayed poor and vulnerable people like her is. It’s what she and VOCAL caught de Faustio doing, and that’s this man’s daily tax dollar profligate wasting workout routine is a ruse.

bill shaking handsbill's blackberry

Really, who does yoga in cargo shorts. Who does it while wearing running shoes, although they came in handy here to briskly walk away from a elderly woman demanding answers.

And for a physical workout that takes concentration and inner peace like yoga, he berate sNathylin for disrupting it with her distracting and inconvenient question. The big stinky shitty but is why the fuck is he holding and using his Blackberry during his “workout?”? Obviously, he is bothered and can’t won’t have a discussion with one of the 63,000 plus homeless people of your city but he can talk and text on his blackberry during it. He was actually texting while she was talking to him too.

bil touching his phonebill's blackberry infull view

Knowing the character of our Mayor here, he is still conducting government business on the sly like he did with those non-elected “agents of the city” meetings with lobbyists that worked on his 2013 campaign in City Hall in his first two years. Hell, he could still be calling them to this day. That Blackberry needs to be FOIA‘ed immediately.

bills-blackberry-infull-view1-e1542914437972.jpg

Of course this is just a amateur theory. But it still warrants an investigation. Which unfortunately, the guy that seriously devoted his energy to expose and expunge graft and the embedded kakistrocacy and cronyism in our city gov’t departments was expunged himself by his fellow Park Slope compadre.

But it wasn’t in vain, for if it wasn’t for the intrepid work of Peters we all wouldn’t be cognizant of the Rivington House deed flip, the slack responses that led to child deaths by the ACS, the criminal obfuscations at NYCHA by the executives in charge and the amoral workers covering up the dilapidation as well as their asses, and the peculiar happenings going on in the NYPD involving the shakeups at the Special Victims Unit divisions, which may be why rape has been redefined into two genres (stranger and acquaintance rape) and blaming the 25 % rise of rapes this year on the #meToo movement.

We hardly knew ya Mark. But that will surely change pretty goddamn soon. Even the NY Post and Daily News have been solid and blunt covering #MayordeFaustio. For that teflon covering on that bag of dicks is starting to crack.

And rest assured that Ms. Flowers will not be the only one holding Mayor de Faustio accountable for his brazen lies, there will be many other citizens too.
