The Lpocalypse Project: The Gaslighting Of And Austerity Plan For The New York City Transit System By Governor Cuomo, Mayor de Blasio And The MTA

043And just imagine a barely functional and safe transit system and mobile daily commutes. 72nd Street Station surface upgrade by Yoko Ono Lennon. Not ADA compliant.

New York, N.Y.

2019 has and will become quite an historic year for New York City transit. But most definitely not in a good way. For the future of it looks fucking bleak despite all the optimism being expressed by elected and appointed officials about all the moolah for infrastructure improvements coming.

Now that it has been decided to keep the base fare of a subway/bus ride at 2.75 while eliminating the bonus charges and raising the cost of unlimited weekly and monthly cards, this would be a good time make a layman’s assessment about the current state of the New York City Transit System run by the MTA, the worst fucking transit system in the universe. Because recent incidents and decisions have given sunlight to the crisis below, as well as above and at ground level regarding our mass transit options, which will also have a deleterious effect on traffic on the island of Manhattan and on the streets and highways that will surely continue to deteriorate and the commutes regarding the and safety by all dependent on the buses and trains (not ferries, fucking please). And it’s also shown that no one is truly capable of being assertive, proactive and having independent or rational thoughts or ideas at MTA. It surely isn’t the board whose dithering members are appointed by the mayor and governor, despite it’s alleged independence and expertise.

But it’s clear who is and always was in charge and that’s our third go-round and self-christened progressive Governor Andrew Cuomo, whose very wrong hands and demented disruptor mind has determined the fate of the MTA transit imbroglio. Apparently, the governor is under the borderline mental delusion that he doesn’t have enough control and has divined himself the autocrat savior of the transit system. This is not even as ego driven like his overzealous order to get the 2nd avenue line finished so he can throw a new years party, this is Andy’s id taking control now with this idiotic and dangerous plan to keep the L train running on time. Even Moussilini would’ve shown more restraint and self-awareness.

But how did we get to this current lowly state of mass transit and the commuting crisis in general? It all began back in January, when the decrepit saltwater hurricane Sandy corroded Canarsie Tunnel was about to be shut down in a mere 3.2 months away. After three years of meticulous research and planning by the MTA board and recently installed transit president Andy Byford along with efforts by the D.O.T. to redesign the streets of the L’s path to remediate traffic with bike lanes and improve bus service on 14th st. (despite the haphazard designs), the Governor suddenly had an epiphany induced by a dubious recollection of being grabbed by a stranger who yelled at him, which led to a visit to the tunnel when he last looked longingly at things in there, and bemused to himself that the commute could still be saved.

So Mario’s son looked and pointed at things with an entourage of hoity-toity college academic officials with absolutely no experience assessing mass transit infrastructure, and decided to scrap the 15 month thorough renovation of the tunnel and rely on an earlier rejected plan to rearrange and restructure the infrastructure’s power supplies on top of the tunnel instead. Instead of fixing and fortifying the corrosion and cracks with good old concrete and mortar, the governor and his new egghead crew decided to go with a polymer glass coating instead. During this new surface coating, the L train will continue to run as scheduled on the weekdays while running on one track on the weekend and on nights after 8 p.m. in 20 minute intervals during the two year (or more) reconstruction.

Transit crisis averted? Not exactly, because this plan was previously and soundly rejected by Cuomo’s board because of the deadly risk of spreading and exposure of cancer causing silica dust that would be released during the construction as transit service re-opened. And the GIF NYC transit provided the public with showing how the trains will flow in one tube underwater looks scary as fuck. But Andy’s id was not going to let potential environmental hazard get in the way of slaying the Lpocalypse. This mentally ill megalomaniac decision is already causing reverberations to commutes and literally the environment along the L train’s tunnels path in the niche towns of Williamsburg and Bushwick.

Exactly a month after Andy’s L plan, the Graham Ave. Station in East Williamsburg (or Bushwick as it used to be called) had to be shut down because of an overwhelming pungent gas smell that sickened a few commuters on the train when it was stalled on the tracks and then nauseated the rest of the passengers as it was slow crawling to the ground zero station. In spite of this incident, an MTA official somehow discerned that the air was safe and the L train resume it’s schedule despite the peculiar appearance of high-powered fans laid on the gratings above the tunnel to extract the noxious fuel odors out.

Screenshot_2019-02-21 L-train smell source is abandoned gas station fuel tank, MTA says

The following day after this announcement, three MTA workers got violently ill from the fumes that were alleged to be gone as other workers took the precaution of pulling their sweaters over their mouths until they received protective face masks.

The source of the fumes had become an evolving mystery but for some bizarre reason, MTA chief safety officer Pat Warren still claimed that the air at Graham Ave. was still safe to breathe. According to lifestyle and occasional actual news blog Gothamist and the NY Daily News, the MTA attributions of the source of the toxic entity changed during the first 48 hours. First it was determined that it was fuel that was accidentally spilled from diesel trains being used during weekend work construction; then it was blamed on an abandoned fuel tank underneath an abandoned gas station; and finally and absurdly, the MTA tried to pin the blame on superfund site Newtown Creek from a Greenpoint refinery spill from the 70’s. Of all those theories, the one that makes the most sense is the first one, being that weekend work has already begun. The other two theories are asinine considering that both of them were unfounded given that there was no evidence the station tank leaked, which probably led to conjuring up some ooze from Newtown Creek that suddenly migrated to the subway tunnels. It seems the MTA is coming up with these theories not to be more transparent but to obviously gaslight commuters and the press from finding out what the fuck is actually going on.

Or maybe the MTA is feigning ignorance. Because when the FDNY showed up in full Hazmat suits to determine the toxic levels of the leak, they did not bother to measure it on orders from the city and state environmental boards.

That’s not the only gaslighting by our servants of mass transit. A month following the gassing of Graham Ave., as the pungent toxicity rose from the crisis below and spread into the ether above permeating apartment buildings and stores in the area, evidence of the error of Cuomo’s Id and his crack Ivy league team’s L revival decision manifested at Bedford Avenue station in Greenpoint, as a cloud of thick dust inundated the station on another Monday morning rush hour.

https://thenypost.files.wordpress.com/2019/03/bedford-avenue-542.jpg?quality=90&strip=all&w=915

Well, guess what was the contents of the contamination that scared the shit out of commuters, it was the presence of the predicted silica dust that was prophesized. But the MTA spokesman wasn’t divulging much but did proclaim that despite evidence of the thickness and noxious odor of the particles and the sight of workers and police with protective face masks on the platform, that the air was still safe to breathe! It evidently seems that the MTA is utilizing the same spin control that Christie Todd Whitman utilized to assuage the public back in 2001 that the air was safe to breathe at Ground Zero weeks after 9/11/2001 so the traumatized city service workers could resume excavating remains at the destroyed WTC site.

Evidently, the MTA is clearly trying to distract their worried commuters from the fact that the weekend work that was approved by Cuomo’s id is causing the environmental hazard it was expected to cause. Which is why this plan that was revived was rejected in the first place. And the MTA’s crass denials of the air quality should cause immediate pause to anyone that what if these were attempts by terrorists to poison the tunnels instead of just causations from worker incompetence.

Another little problem with Cuomo/MTA tunnel surface remediation plan? Well, last summer on the Jersey Transit, a PATH tunnel with similar infrastructure with overhead wiring exploded causing a metal bracket to pierce through a train’s ceiling like a spear, causing 700 passengers to evacuate awaiting a rescue train and another 350 remaining stuck on a train behind it from the sharpnel and debris on the tracks . Fortunately for them, they were near Penn Station. What’s going to happen when this happens on the L train when they are done moving that wiring on the Canarsie roof and putting that polymer balm on the cracks and crevices around the walls and the floor bed?

With the frightening prospect of taking the L as construction continues for the next 20 months (but certainly more than that). Mayor de Blasio, while nowhere to be found during those two toxic transit disasters as well as four recent incidents of transit debris falling from the elevated tracks in Woodside and Richmond Hill, continues to push his stupid and expensive NYC Ferry transportation option as well as funding another study for the loathed and loathsome BQX trolley.

As was expected of anything de Blasio promotes and focusing his attention on, the NYC Ferry has turned into a disastrously expensive boondoggle. For the subsidized costs for each $2.75 ride amounts to $10.73, which went up four and change from the 6 buck estimate from last year and went up two bucks from estimates a few months ago. As the costs of the new ferries on the way is going to cost another $369 million. The timing of this report coincides de Blasio’s announcement of the ferry’s expansion of new stops in Staten Island and Coney Island, which will not be ready till 2020 and 2021 respectively and another one at the Brooklyn Navy Yard which will be ready to launch this May. The launching of the Coney Island one next year is expected to balloon the already high subsidy costs to $24.75 for every fare.

As if de Blasio’s prioritizing of the ferry over the dilapidated condition of the subway and roads and the snails pace speed of the city buses wasn’t crass enough, somehow he couldn’t placate residents of the town of Canarsie with a ferry stop of their own, even though they compiled 6,000 signatures and actually have a dock ready for renovation. Which unsurprisingly validates the fact this ferry are basically ersatz yachts and is only beneficial and necessary for the wealthy and tourists and not meant for the commuting needs of the proletariat masses. Which the ready made stop at hipster frequented Brooklyn Navy yard as well as all the luxury development stops on the East River in Manhattan proves the inequitable treatment against the more frequented subway and bus services in spades (or anchors?). Besides, Canarsie didn’t have a chance because those real estate gentrification enabling porch monkeys at the city’s Economic Development Corporation didn’t put the town on the feasibility list, even though the Bronx town of Soundview never even had a pier before and they were declared feasible by the EDC. Amazing what becoming a real estate speculative hot bed with looming parasitic tower hyperdevelopment can do for an selective area. But despite being a reverse revenue generator, de Blasio’s inducement of the NYC ferry is a city taxpayer funded investment now even though the only benefit to come from this seasonal leisure  service will go straight into the bank account of EDC board member Mark Patricof who has a conflicted invested interest he holds in Hornblower from previously working in  private equity firm with holdings in the transit yacht provider.

But these are not the only transit offenses against the citizenry he swore to serve these last 6 long years, especially the poor he pandered to get elected in 2013. After much cajoling by house speaker Corey Johnson, Da Mayor relented and implemented the Fair Fares program to begin at the start of 2019 to be available to 700,000 struggling citizens. And what came naturally from the notoriously tardy and slow mayor, the program took nearly a month to send the discounts out and limited the distribution to 30,000 applicants. Expectedly from the two-faced liar, it was nothing but a half-measure because the cards were sent out as unlimited weekly or monthly cards instead of day to day purchases which these commuters usually spend, being that they don’t have 20 or 60 dollars to plunk down right away or even have the cash at all if they are without a job. The expected diminished result is barely over hundred people are using these Fair Fares. Why couldn’t the city tell the MTA to arrange the card like its done with the school and senior citizen reduced cards. But being helpful to the most financially burdened has never been much of concern for the notorious Mayor Big Slow.

Andy Byford

Of course, forgotten in this whole MTA mess is the man who was assigned to save it while stressing transparency and credibility for the agency, Transit President Andy Byford who arrived last year with such great fanfare and who was recently featured on 60 minutes last autumn, whose nfluence, authority and plans now been undermined and virtually eliminated by Andy’s id . His absence from the L train aborted shutdown announcement and his lack of input of the decision to sugarcoat the cracked tunnel walls and floorboards with polymer, which the initial contractor rightfully thought was a stupid and dangerous idea 2 years ago, was majorly conspicuous. Compounded with Gov. Stugots autocratic decision to junk Andy’s proven idea to upgrade the anachronistic signal system with a computer based CBTC that has been used successfully when he ran the tube in London and the subway in Toronto and has been effective since it’s been applied to the L line (figures) with some ultraband radio wave bullshit idea that Andy’s id got from Elon Musk, while Byford’s thoroughly detailed Fast Foward plan has not gotten one penny for its funding to this day since it was announced with great fanfare and widespread media coverage.

And it was looking very certain that he and FF will never get it, and recent and current history validates that horrendous fact according to NYS Comptroller Thomas de Napoli’s report as surmounting debts are going to interfere with all other moderation and renovations of the subways infrastructure. The Fast Forward plan as devolved into the Flying Fuck, meaning that Governor Stugots doesn’t give one about it at all. These two have not been in the same photo op together since I don’t know fuck when.

And Byford’s plan to make 50 stations handicap accessible was about to get chopped to 36 because of these looming debts, which derived from the blowback of the underfunding for the accessibility retrofits over a decade ago when just 1.8% was allocated for it and with the funding about to dry up as the final days of the current five year transit plan is about to end this year  If this wasn’t horrendous enough consider that 6 stations were shut down for months for surface and aesthetic modernizations like self-indulgent art and led screens flashing MTA bulletins and maps. The 72nd St B/C Station and the 23rd Street Station comes to mind.

007

With these dubious upgrades, Andy’s id’s MTA proves that the only subway improvements are designed for tourists to navigate through the city and niche parts of Brooklyn and Queens (and even the Bronx) on nice screens like the theme park this city has turned into. And all this art being installed is just there for the Instagram addicted. Supposedly the funding is only a morsel of budgetary spending, that morsel could have been allocated for initial funding on an elevator that could have been installed at a station where a mother killed herself falling down the steps while carrying a full stroller and her toddler daughter.

Too bad and too little too late that a federal judge recently decided that the MTA had to require all station renovations must be ADA compliant. The problem of course is where to get the funding again to honor the judge’s decision, because Mario’s son’s MTA burned through all the money that was to upgrade other stations, which would have also went into art that nobody asked for instead of signal and infrastructure upgrades, unsightly dilapidation of the ceilings, walls and stairs and of course elevators for the disabled as well for the elderly and children’s strollers. The latter which recently got tragic attention when a woman died trying to carry her stroller with child down along with shopping bags as she fell down the stairs when there was no escalator available in the city’s 7th avenue station.

But all is not lost for these looming and practically insurmountable expenses, for Governor Stugots budget passed with the ratification of congestion pricing to supposedly fix the MTA once and for all. Expected to accrue funding for the subway, a tolling system will be put in place to charge regular car drivers $11 and commercial truck drivers $25 to enter Manhattan below 60th street to downtown. Because that’s the way to derive funding for mass transit and levy it on people who choose to own a vehicle so they never use it and also to people that are just in town to do their jobs.

The thing is this tax levy on car owning commuters and delivery workers (a glut of them who don’t make a living wage) won’t be implemented until 2020, conveniently after the next election for Albany’s assembly and senate.

The only saving grace for car owners is that the congestion fees/taxes for driving in Manhattan will not be implemented until December 2020 (conveniently after the next election) and won’t go into effect in another two years, or maybe more being that there will have to be a system to take all the congestion tolls. Probably something like those ugly ass LINKNYC data succubi kiosks.

Of course there were more reliable and faster ways to come up with the billions to fix the crisis below; like the long overdue, sensible and fiscally responsible legalization of marijuana. But the arguments among all officials (mostly paranoid) about how it will be distributed and who should profit from it first and also expected resistance from rigid Republican elected officials and the upper echelons of law enforcement. But it got nixed from consideration in the budget hearings, so New York is going to continue to lag behind other states like Colorado, Massachusettes, California and the nation of Canada and lose billions in tax dollars from the manufacturing and selling of it.

And the big dirty obscene open secret of the minuscule taxes oligarchs pay for pied-e-terres in supertall dark luxury towers. But that immediately got crushed when REBNY sent their wormtongue minions to inundate news sites with developer agitprop and to Albany and persuaded the Assembly that these investor citizens ossified personal wealth absolutely can’t be sacrificed for the transit needs and safety of daily commuters. Despite recent heinous news of a billionaire hedge fund owner who paid $238 million for a sky high home on Central Park South and Jeff Bezos looking to purchase another multi-million dollar abode in the same building along with the four other ones he owns nearby on Central Park West. Hundreds of millions of dollars that would have been extracted from these welfare oligarchs and also from other American and foreign billion and hundred millionaire sloths who purchased these tax shelters in various luxury monoliths that have sprouted in Manhattan as well as the East River coasts of towns in Brooklyn and Queens are now gone. Gone with all the money that was never accounted for prior to this proposal.

You think the feckless Albany cowards would have debunked whatever bullshit REBNY’s wormtongues were spewing when all they had to do is look at Hudson Yards, where a train station built there before the gilded age girder and glass beanstalks were planted. While the developers, city and state were gerrymandering districts (and including Central Park) to pilfer billions from areas that needed it for affordable housing to fund it’s manifestation, the station flooded every time it rained and the escalators consistently break down even to this day. In a way, it looks like having people walk up almost 3 flights from the subway is a good way to train for the useless shawarma art staircase that you first see coming out of the station.

Which leads to the obvious conclusion that our elected leaders, appointed officials and the fucking MTA are relying on the neoliberal doctrine of using austerity measures to rebuild and improve mass transit. What usually happens with cutting costs for government projects and the abject refusal from officials to accrue funding from the wealthiest individuals, austerity always devastates the livelihoods of the lower tiers of the income ladder. Because with congestion pricing, the needs of the few (or the one) outweigh the needs of the many.

Like the taxi drivers, who currently contribute $2.50 to add on to the base fare while  tech corporations like Uber and Lyft only charge an extra quarter even though there are five times more of those app-hail cars on the streets that’s actually is at fault for all the congestion. Because of cab and livery drivers taking their own lives in the past year, this has been dubbed as the “suicide surcharge” by taxi veterans and representatives.

And everyone else will also be levied with this tax when you go to any store that sells goods, from supermarkets to department stores, because those costs are going to be added right to your purchases, adding to the prices that are already rising because of onerous state and city taxes and rent ossification. Even all you pious non-driving, bike, scooter and skateboard riding dependent on your butler apps for Amazon to deliver shit to your shiftless asses, you will be seeing costs escalate for your online consuming too and y’all know Bezos is not above gouging his customers as you’re transit commutes get more chaotic.

As for the #LpocalypseProject’s schedule, Northeast Brooklyn’s millenial urban professionals (hey, Muppies!) who will not tolerate waiting for 20 minutes or more or even the risk of getting poisoned from silica wafting in the air, they will predictably press their little apps and take pricey trips in those Ubers, Lyfts and all their imitators (and certainly more to come) to the city. While the added fees will get accrued for MTA funding it will predictably cause more congestion. No wonder Uber spent 2 million dollars lobbying to get this austerity measure ratified. They are going to make huge bank in the next year and no wonder the city rushed to get the suicide surcharge approved for just the cabs and apphails. That actually makes fiscal sense despite the levies it’s placing on their customers. But if they can afford 1700 to live in an SRO or 2200 for an “affordable” studio, the Muppies can deal with this hardship. But it still going to be a pain in the ass commute for everyone from the not yet gentrified towns of East New York, Brownsville and the ferry-less Canarsie.

As for the Canarsie Tunnel, that also is an austerity measure with inequitable results between the affluent and the working class grinders. Because this polymer coating  is just a half-measured temporary fix that is going to have disastrous consequences when the next hurricane hits this city (remember that bitch Sandy was just a cat. 1, what’s going to happen when it’s a cat. 3 or even 2?), and this infrastructure donut glaze coating of the walls and floorboards is just as cheap and effective as treating a wall with mold and grime on it by painting over it, which the MTA actually did at Union Square last winter.

Or covering it up with a nice poster

001.jpg

While service will continue to lag behind in the borough’s towns without niche, the city provided frequent bus transfers for L project sufferers so they can get to the J/M and G trains across town. Which will certainly be busier on the evenings and weekends than the rest of the borough’s long bus routes that are still suffering from slow speeds and late arrivals caused by…traffic congestion.

The appalling inequities that are present with the Lpocalypse Project I base on the fact that the MTA should have fixed this and shut down this tunnel immediately after the flood waters emptied out back in 2011. But that would have thrown a wrench on the over-luxury-hyper-development and fabrication-speculation market rate values of Williamsburg and then onward to neighboring Bushwick and Greenpoint and the Gentrification Industrial Complex of real estate, venture capital, private equity and the government they bought and now own were not going to let something like the safety of millions of commuters get in the way of the demographic  they want that are willing to spend frivolously and mindlessly to live in proximity of the dreaded L line.

The coddling of the moneyed hipster demo that overspends and resides along the L train line fearing that they won’t make any readjustments to their morning and evening commutes or routines. More essential to the Guvner and the Hotel and Hospitality overlords is that this L train fakeout will keep service still convenient for tourists residing in high end flophouse hotels and airbnbs in the Meatpacking district, Chelsea, LES, East Village and Williamsburg to continue frequenting all those theme bars, beer gardens, restaurants and cache take out joints in those areas being that they only need to travel a few stops in Manhattan and Brooklyn

And even the MTA is cognizant of this, because they are going head on to phase out the metrocard and replace it with a stylish but lamely named access card called OMNY, which operates as a worker I.D. card which will be used to tap a screen to pay instead of swiping. And it also will be app-accessible so you can use your cellphone to pay. Even though the brainiacs behind this stupid tech bullshit method refuse to reveal how this will effect people who pay cash (and people that will still prefer to pay cash). These type of transactions have proved to be discriminatory and the prospects for unwanted data extraction will be (hopefully) met with universal anger from commuters. Of course, the officials pushing this pay method (including Byford) responded with the tone-deaf default excuse that everyone already is distributing their data with their cellphone social media and app purchasing habits, so what does the right to privacy and individuality matter when convenience takes precedence over constitutional rights.

But like Moussilli, Andy’s Id still kept the trains running (assuming on time is pure conjecture at this point) despite all the ominous toxic signs from the two incidents in February in March. Further evidence of Governor Stugots austerity measures for the MTA is assigning his Ivy league team who convinced him to keep the L running during the tunnel reconstruction for every other remediation and renovation projects, which includes the upgrading of the signals thus superseding and undermining Andy Byford in the same manner that former Mayor Giuliani projected his seething jealousy on former Commissioner Bratton for his accomplishments in bringing down crime.

Cuomo’s adamant megalomania and de Blasio’s spineless indifference will add to the risks and dangers of the continued exacerbation of the subway. In the midst of this MTA manic depression breakdown, at least one of their board members reassured the reality of their transit surroundings by admitting and actually apologizing for the existential lousiness of the subway.

Now it’s day two of the Lpocalypse Project and as expected shit went wrong on the L with delays lasting up to 40 minutes. It looks like the folks at NYC Transit thought the GIF they provided of the trains navigating the single tube passage looked easier than they thought. But at least they deployed MTA workers to act as commuting ushers to help the critical masses of people to get on board the trains.

But tomorrow is Monday and that’s when shit gets real. Because there is still the menacing prospect of particle pollution that will surely appear again on Bedford Ave if the MTA doesn’t contain it, some of the workers moving commuters were already wearing masks as a precaution. And the shit’s gonna hit the fan now that it’s May and it’s almost summer. Will Governor Stugots Cuomo whoosh down from Albany to look at the results of his manic change of mind when the crisis below exacerbates?

Wait with abated breath. Which actually would prudent to do if you still are taking the L all the way through.

Good luck L commuters. You’re gonna really need it. But you’re gonna need a chemical mask even more.

Screenshot_2020-07-11 Edit Post ‹ Impunity City — WordPress comAbove: Tala and Rotana Farea. Sisters at the mercy of apparent Saudi Arabian oppressive sexist policies and American indifference.

Manhattan

In the Upper West Side in Riverside Park, two sisters were found dead duct taped by their wrists and ankles together in a crucifix position facing each other lying on the rocks by the Hudson River. The 22-year-old woman and her 16-year-old sister ran away from their home in Virginia when they got a notice from Saudi Arabia for them to return to their home country. Only recently they tried to apply for immigration asylum status in the U.S.A, but couldn’t get it (Trump’s draconian immigration policy could have had an effect on this).

Which is how they wound up in the city with both of them deciding to end their young lives in Manhattan living the high life and splurging on shopping, fine dining and swanky hotels until their credit maxed out. Winding up sitting by the Hudson and praying to their deity according to a passerby who last saw them.

Despite being duct taped together face to face and their bodies showed no trauma that would appear from jumping off a bridge, The NYPD is still determining that this was a suicide. How do you get the momentum to jump in the river or even move when you are bound like a cross facing each other? How does two people (or even one) capable of bounding each other together by their extremities with duct tape? I’m not a cop and never watched an episode of CSI and only occasionally watch Law and Order SUV (which with these sisters troubles and demise would make a great episode), but the only plausible way to commit a suicide pact like this would be is that they would have bound each other while laying down by the water on the rocks in the hopes that the river would rise to take them in.

The rebuffed asylum request by America’s immigration services along with the demand from their oppressive oligarch-royal ruled homeland makes this even more sinister, especially considering that asylum requests are usually by migrants to flee from oppressive and entrenched criminal nations. And it’s weird that these young women were rejected in the first place as if they were suspected terrorists or something.

Weirder still is the NYPD’s apparent insouciance for this case considering the notorious and now transparent fatal tactics used by the hierarchical government of Saudi Arabia to get what they want and in contrast of the efforts the NYPD and the NYFD took to find Karina Vetrano’s killer. There is also the factor that these sisters were spending lavishly in the city which shows that they probably came from a wealthy family and the trail they left at the various places where they made their purchases would undoubtably be of interest to Saudi officials looking to detain them as well as ICE agents who trace the whereabouts any illegal immigrant working in this city alone. And what about that witness? Is there a timeline of when he saw them praying and when they died? The determinations and conclusion of this case by the NYPD’s CSI of these two sisters has become WTF and FUBAR.

The second most distressing thing about the death of these two sisters is the total and revolting lack of local news coverage for this tragedy. What would have been the reaction by the local stations of CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox and Pix if these two women were White, or even Black, Spanish or Asian. Or American citizens in general? The only news coverage the deaths of Tara and Rotana Faera have received recently was on RT News.

It should be noted that the killer who slaughtered and dismembered Brandy Odom in Canarsie Park in Brooklyn is still on the loose.

Also in the Upper West Side, a 70-year-old woman was murdered in her apartment by a 24-year-old woman and upstairs neighbor who stabbed her in the neck. The woman had a long career in creative divisions of every ad firm. Her home life at her building was marred by the invective confrontations by newer tenants for her dogs that she rescued and feeding pigeons daily by the building and Riverside Park leading to constant badgering by the buildings co-op board who were inundated with complaints, at time dubious, from fellow tenants, leading her to be fearful of leaving her apartment in her final days.

Again in the Upper West Side at the West End Secondary School, a teacher attacked one of his students by pulling the chair from under him and pushing the desk to pin him against the wall.

And again in the Upper West Side, a vandal spray-painted swastikas on an concrete outpost by the Hudson River.

And again in the Upper West Side, a man committed suicide by jumping off a roof of a building at the Amsterdam Houses.

In Penn Station at the 34th Street Station, an elderly couple that just got off the 3 train were bumped by a man who ran into them trying to catch it from leaving. The selfish savage glimpsed briefly at them and turned and boarded the train instead of seeing if they were o.k. as the 89-year-old man he knocked down was lying on the platform unconscious and bleeding from hitting his head on the concrete. The victim died two weeks later after being in coma from pneumonia from internal bleeding in his brain.

In Midtown, a man ran towards an off-duty police officer and punched him in the head, then wrestled with him on the ground while trying to wrest his gun. The cop fought back and the man ran away but was apprehended by him and another detective. The attacker had a prior arrest for assaulting an MTA cop back in February.

Also in Midtown around 2 p.m. by Bryant Park a food delivery man attacked and assaulted a 64-year-old man with his bike lock and whacked him in the twice then five more times as he laid on the ground.

Again in Midtown, a manager at a restaurant got attacked by a man who feigned looking for employment who put her in a chokehold in a basement office then robbed her backpack and $400. The suspect is also wanted for breaking and entering into a synagogue robbing it of $400 and breaking into the basement of a fabric store and assaulting a maintenance worker there and stealing hi wallet.

And again in Midtown, another recidivist petty criminal rap star’s crew went buckwild when they were turned away on the orders of the “talent’s” new manager at a restaurant where there was a party being held for the “talent” for his clearing of sex abuse charges of using a minor for a lascivious video. In Bayside, an app-hail livery driver was caught masturbating by a 14-year-old girl who was in the back seat when she noticed he was leering at her in the rear-view mirror. The service, LYFT, refused to cooperate with the NYPD in disclosing the creeps name and allowed him to pick up fares for the corporation for another two weeks.

In Roosevelt Island, five men were nailed swindling a homeless woman who won a four million dollar settlement from the city from a subway accident where she lost both of her legs. The woman gave one of the men $800,000 so she can run up a tab at his deli to get cartons of smokes to resell at a profit, and a check worth $880,000 that she placed in a bible she carried was robbed from her wheelchair.

On Rikers Island, an inmate threw a table at a C.O then attacked him. After the C.O. fought him off and tried to restrain him, the inmate broke free and charged at him as he wrestled the C.O. and started swinging punches at him on the floor. The C.O. got up and the inmate continued with his attack which extended across the hall and seemingly ended with the inmate throwing a garbage can at the C.O. All this happening as other prisoners just casually walked by like it’s just another regular day at the prison complex and top brass officials at Rikers blows it off as minor incident.

Well, it turns out that watered down incident report worked, because that aggressively hostile inmate is an 18-year-old man with eight prior arrests for robbery, gun possession, i.d. theft, and assault just like in the video footage just had his $1,500 bail paid off by the RFK foundation in their obliviously self-righteous ill-conceived program to bail out prisoners that can’t afford to pay, no matter what their prior charges were and how violent they are. So he’s back on the streets again. Stay tuned.

Also on Rikers Island, two of the suspects from the Trinatarios gangbanger machete killing of Lesandro Guzman-Feliz attacked two C.O.’s by throwing a bottle of piss at them and verbally threatened them with murder.

Reported rapes are up 50% reaching a high not seen in 25 years in precincts in North Queens. NYPD is still attributing this disturbing crime trend on the #MeToo  movement even though there wasn’t social 25 years ago when women were getting raped at this level.

Staten Island

In Stapleton, in front of the beauty parlor where Eric Garner was murdered after being placed in a chokehold and pinned face first to the concrete by Officer Pantaleo, a bottle was thrown in the direction of an actor and profanities were yelled at a film crew that was shooting an arrest scene of him and two other actors as cops for a TV show featuring a cop-killer actor, an actress that was involved in a burglary of a studio with her son in Astoria, and an actress who played a character that offered to suck “The Dude”‘s cock for a grand. The director, a former NYPD cop, professed not knowing that was the exact location where the fatal abuse of excessive force occurred.

In West Brighton, an off-duty firefighter was found in a car wreck after his brother crashed the vehicle they were in into a telephone pole. A Corrections Officer neighbor of theirs tried to aid them by offering to park the car in his driveway. After he does that, the fireman gets in the C.O.’s face and starts assaulting him as his buddies show up and ganged up on him and his song while he’s trying to ward them off with a broomstick as they were assaulting them with punches.

Following an NYPD press conference about crime rates last September, reported murders (+3%), rapes (+26%!) and grand larceny attempts (+7.6%) have gone up as other crime activity has went slightly down.

The rape stats according to the commish’s theory is that the cultural impact of the #metoo movement is leading women to report more incidents which shows that those with authority are still blaming the victim. When rape was at higher levels back in the 70’s and 80’s there was no social media or even an internet to cite but they were definitely reported and referred to when the Mayor and the Chief of Police and other NYPD high brass when they compare how wonderful the city is now compared to the Bad Old Days.

And the slight drop of crimes like robbery (-2), felony assault (-6.5%), burglary (-3%) and grand larceny (-1%), shows that the level of crime stats is holding steady.

Here are shitload of examples of them from the last month, including a bunch that will make the sugar-coated press conference in November.

Brooklyn

In Canarsie, a retired detective named Ludwig got arrested at his home by Internal Affairs for fulfilling his life-long dream directing a prostitution and gambling ring with his wife and two daughters along with 3 detectives, two sergeants and two cops from precincts in Corona, Sunset Park, and Hempstead, Long Island resulting from a two-year sting where the perpetrators were able to run a 2 million dollar a year industry by using the badge to thwart competitors, warn their associates of impending raids and to get courtesy massages and coitus. In case anyone is dismayed about corruption embedded in the “greatest police force in the world”, be relieved to know that these skells will still be getting their pensions.

Also in Canarsie, a drive-by shooting of a man went awry when the shooter smashed his car into an ambulance trying to get away.

In Bed-Stuy, two shootings took place an hour apart in broad daylight as a man got shot in his legs and another man got shot in the chest and died as another man with him got shot in the ass. The one who got killed was the son of an aide to the Brooklyn Borough President.

In Marine Park, a homeless man torched a fleet of  135 cars on two floors in the parking garage in the Kings Plaza shopping mall causing a 7-alarm fire and waltzed out walking in the lot with matches in hand. 18 firefighters and 3 citizens got injured by the blaze.

The arsonist persistently slept in the garage and claimed that he started the fire because people were having sex in the vehicles and it disturbed and offended him. The loon should have dialed 311 or taken it up with consumer affairs.

In Midwood, a man who got arrested after he assaulted a worker at a gas station attempted to provoke a police officer by calling her the same vulgar racial epithet 50 times over and over again.

Sarah. on Twitter Hello MTA and NYCTSubway ...your ceilings are falling on people again.…(sarah c)

And again in Downtown Brooklyn at the Atlantic Ave/Barclays Center Station, the ceiling collapsed and shitted plaster and concrete all over the platform as an elevator at the station is constantly out of service. The bankster sponsored arena since it’s opening  as contributed absolutely zero to maintain the infrastructure of the station and is negligent of the elevator that they shoddily built after a ludicrous deal with the state where Barflays spent 76 million to keep the station “functioning” without the responsibility for it’s upkeep.

And again in Brownsville, an off-duty cop got robbed of his vehicle and his government issued gun inside by a hooker when he went to an ATM to pay her for her service. The jackass left his keys in the ignition with the motor running, a bad habit of most cops while on patrol despite laws against idling for three minutes for citizens. Turns out the reason the prostitute stole his shit was because the guy owed her $2,000 for prior coitus with her.

This woman, who left the 109th Pct. in Flushing guffawing like a moron after she faced charges, is a representative of a putrid gilded age going on in NYC being enabled by celebrity fan worship by the youth of today and the doting starfucking electeds that let these “talents” cause havoc with impunity because of the city’s economic dependence on frivolus spending and celebrity lifestyles and the night scene.

In Richmond Hill, a corrections officer was killed by a MTA employee on his motorcycle who shot him in the head after yelling that the C.O. cut him off by making a U-turn. Something like this was inevitable because this neighborhood has arguably the most selfish reckless drivers in the borough.

This is yet another incident of cops using fatal excessive force to handle mentally ill people and also peculiar machinations to cover it up. New Bad Days Five-O: Mayor de Blasio Initializes Heroin Abusing Safe Spaces While Pot Will Remain Illegal; Home Invasions Result In Murder And Gunpoint Robberies; Queens Woman Beaten By Stranger And Left For Dead; Shithead Lets His Bitch Loose That Tries To Eat A Commuter’s Foot On The Train; Hasidic Man Gets Punched For Saying Hello; Stupid Kids Rob Fake Sneakers; Woman Goes Nuts For Not Getting Free Soda With Her Meal; Trump Booster Gets Pyschotically Pushy And Park And Street Shootings, Slashings And Stabbings Abound And Subway Robberies Go Up As Well As Transit Masturbation

Fun Fact: intense dramatic turning actor Jack Lord was from Richmond Hill, Queens.

First things first now that this unfortunate series of traumatizing events in the five boroughs has reached a small milestone…

Mayor Bill de Blasio (the mayor of your city for readers from N.Y.C.) has decided to implement a plan for heroin addicts to shoot up their works in specialized facilities. This idea, that was featured in season 3 of “The Wire“, is an attempt to tamp down on overdose deaths and discourage junkies from shooting up on the streets and parks and in the privacy of their homes or in abandoned ones. It’s a response to thousand of O.D. deaths that outnumbered the total amounts of fatalities from murders and vehicular accidents even though this statistic wasn’t counted for the rosy celebratory announcement of (alleged) record breaking low crime stats last year by the mayor and the NYPD considering the federal illegality of the drug, the industry where it emanates from and the widespread crime that it fosters, like the desperate lengths addicts will do to get their fix like muggings and petty theft to murders ordered by drug lords and assaults and killings resulting from gangs fighting over territory for sales. Sites being considered are Gowanus in Brooklyn, Longwood in the Bronx, Washington Heights and Midtown West in Manhattan.

There is no doubt that the opioid epidemic has to be curbed and lives need to be saved, but the city can’t implement this without decriminalizing/legalizing the consumption, possession and selling of marijuana. It’s unjustly absurd that the city is going to allow heroin addicts special places to shoot up while there are still people being arrested for smoking and selling pot. Especially since the NYPD is still selectively targeting Blacks and Hispanics based on dubious phone call complaints about smoking outside, while wealthy hipsters are running a faux speakeasy selling weed and combining it with hard liquor for sale to wealthy majority White hipsters who buy and consume it in a house in Greenpoint with total impunity. (But don’t worry about them, because they are making drug abuse “elegant”).

This program is implemented in other countries around the world and is currently being considered in Seattle, San Francisco, and Philadelphia. But as is wont of Mayor de Blasio, and his delusion as a progressive superstar leader and his proclivity to spend lavishly, he’s going to jump the gun and be the first to start it this high risk program, and now he has the approval of Commissioner O’Neal despite observing that drug abuse and dealing was occurring off the facilities in two provinces in Canada.

And going by the fauxgressive mayor’s management of other crucial safety net programs like public housing and child services, he will probably fuck this one up too, piss a ton of money and human resources on it and will blatantly ignore any negative ramifications that will result when the sites officially open and have his aides cover up any incidents or hassles from the addicts and the pushers that will be loitering around these sites for a safe practically legal place to sell their product. While pot smokers have to continue to still worry about being caught, cuffed and imprisoned.

As long as pot remains illegal and in the same class of drug as heroin, these junkie wellness centers are full of shit and unfair. And shows that these so-called liberal leaders who are still wishy-washy on legalization and prefer to stall by ordering expensive redundant studies, don’t give a shit about sensible pot smokers and as citizens they are expendable. Particularly Black and Hispanic pot smokers. Maybe they’ll all get a card for their unnecessary troubles.

In other city wide issues under the purview of Mayor de Blasio, in this city’s schools, attacks on teachers by students went up by 4.5% at a total of over 10,000 incidents, stats that are in utter contrast with Mayor de Blasio’s claims that schools have never been safer.

And if some teachers aren’t under enough stress dealing with wayward kids they also have to worry about their predatory horny faculty peers, as a report was released exposing 590 complaints of sexual harassment of teachers and workers for the Department of Education during de Blasio’s first term derived from a total report of 1,300 sexual harassment complaints from all city municipal agencies. Which this fucking mayor publicly and condescendingly dismissed as “hyper-complaint-dynamics”. Leaving no doubt that this deranged concoction term is behind any reason why cases in any city agency get ignored.

And robberies in the subway has gone up 54%. Now back to the five borough blotter.

The Gentrification Of A Beach And Federal Park Part II And III: It’s Failure And The Ludicrous New Effort

493The screen and seating areas. Pathetic.

Riis Park, Gateway National Park, Rockaway Beach, Queens, N.Y., U.S.A.

Here is part one

Rockaway Beach, the biggest beach in the greater N.Y. area and arguably the east coast, immortalized in song, and thanks to moneyed interests whom are persistent, oblivious and crass, ripe for picking.

479.jpg

There they go and went again. This is second year in a row that the Central Park Conservancy, Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Rockaway Artists Alliance attempt to remake/remodel a beach for the bogus rationale of having a movie night in a park, a gimmick that has seen widespread popularity in the past few years in parks in this city and other major cities across the country. The reason for this alleged philanthropy is to bring vibrancy, diversity and revitalization to the beach, which was rocked by Hurricane Sandy 6 years ago wherein this particular spot was used as a landfill for all the debris and damage from the devastating fires of Breezy Point and the destruction of half of the original boardwalk eastward.

Riis Park, known as the “people’s beach”, designed by the notorious city planner, architect and segregator Robert Moses, is mostly visited by Blacks, Hispanics (ranging from various nations), even Russians and gay people (the gay community has a long history with this beach). It is still, as it always was, visited by millions of people of all races and nationalities. The need for diversity and vibrancy is in fact, moot and redundant.

Here was the turnout of their “film festival”, which consisted of one movie,”School Of Rock”.

574

Less than hundred people sat down on the dirty sand for 2 hours to watch a movie on what looks like a giant raft or the bottom severed off a bouncy castle, which are tied down with cables and looks a bit perilous. The audio was horrible because of the consistent gale force winds which should be expected since it’s by a town known as the aforementioned Breezy Point.

Meanwhile by the bazaar, the restaurant was shut down and all the attractions bailed out leaving the boardwalk bare except for a makeshift stand taking donations for the former mayor’s philanthropic organization who along with the brass at Gateway thought this was a smashing idea again. This time with lower turnout than last year.

This festival is happening in congruence with the daily beach bazaar going on by the parks toilets, which is being run by some perpetually failing event planners and promoters from Greenpoint, Brooklyn, after their original space shut down, were awarded a 3 year contract from the National Parks Service promoted by a semi-major local newsblog who are friends of theirs, to bring what one of the organizers claimed, to bring “Brooklyn” to Queens (not that condescending or insulting, but they are invading hipsters, and as the record shows, useful idiots for gentrification).

Although one concession stand did remain open and was just as vibrant, although in competition with the RAA, Bloomberg’s and the Central Park Conservancy’s second vain and sad attempt to revitalize the beach. And it was the beach bazaar’s star chef Whitley Aycock. While the movie was running, Mr. Aycock was blasting music from his stand and drowning out the audio from the movie as if the wind wasn’t enough. And continued to do so in spite of complaints from visitors and park management.

The following week at the bazaar, Whitty was blasting some music that was quite vulgar that offended passerby. When one person requested that he maybe should play something else, Whitty proceeded to pump up the volume out of spite, leading him to get ejected by the folks of Gateway and begrudgingly his Riis Park Bazaar admirers, for the rationale that it was a “family beach”.

Well, they should have thought of that before the folks they awarded that contract to who then decided to hire this guy to run his concession stand of overpriced and little pizza pies to begin with. Mr Aycock has been wreaking havoc for a few years running a joint with a hedge funder in Rockaway Park at the now shuttered Playland Inn.  After trying to run a conventional pizzeria, he started yelling at customers, mostly the area black kids from the neighborhood and changed his format to whole pies at upscale prices, and continued to be a cantankerous sore to his new clientele which had a pervasive influence on his equally surly and pompous staff. As time went on, and a few more hipster themed barstaurants opened up, Aycock became quite the habitual criminal. He grew pot inside his restaurant, which drew attention of the police station 2 blocks away, and tried to convince/fool two patrolmen that it was just herbs for his overpriced dining fare and wound up getting arrested. Reportedly, the staff and some customers came to his defense by actually getting physical and obscenely yelling at the cops as they were frogmarching his ass out the door. Imagine if that happened at a restaurant with Black or Spanish people.

Things continued to get worse, since being a flaming diarrhetic asshole does not make for good business acumen and his investors attempts at gentrification with their arty hotel did not get any patrons except for homeless people for a little while, his pizza place shut down, leaving him temporary no place to create his revolutionary pies. The day he closed, he left a message for the fine folks in the community who just couldn’t appreciate his talent nor his putrid existence by putting a paper plate telling the town to go fuck itself.

A few days later, Aycock showed up at his former digs with a forklift and was busted breaking and entering into his old restaurant trying to steal the oven by destroying the wall in the back of the building. Then he had the nerve to sue the proprietor by claiming ownership of the oven.

After this recidivist juvenile delinquent behavior, which would have landed anyone else in Rikers, he was approached by  Gateway and the Riis Park Beach bozos and was contracted to cook for the bazaar and open his new place, despite the fact that it was October and the event was supposed to end at the official end of summer. But Gateway decided to let it continue through the cold seasons and early spring with this menace working in their kitchen working aside a ridiculous craft beer and cocktail bar beside them. These creative types were basically given a place to hang out for almost a year despite making no business or money for the park and beach. A veritable tax payer funded social club.

The Riis Park Bazaar is a big colossal joke and a failure. It does get patrons, the dopes who wait on line for food that are quite ubiquitous in the now tony parts of Brooklyn but not enough to truly influence a massive dramatic change in scenery and demographics. And the performances they have there is barely audible because of, well the friggin’ wind makes the acoustics there lousy.

Mostly and historically, the majority of people that go to Riis bring their own food, beverages and entertainment. Mostly, nobody gives a damn about this bazaar, and are clearly not intimidated by it. And the set up of this is clearly seen as the obvious farce and ruse it is.

So much for bringing “Brooklyn” to Queens. Mostly, so much for a pathetic lame attempt bringing the gilded age, disposable income, frivolous spending, obnoxious, entitled hipster lifestyle to spread across the beach in the hopes of turning it into the Hamptons with a more convenient commute.

But apparently, the national parks service to privatize parkland and beaches is not over. Now there is a new and preposterously dumber and scarily more powerful invader. Starting today, Gateway now will like to present the new vibrant movement for superfluous revitalization-“Glamping”.

Yes, Fort Tilden, which for the past 3 years has been inundated with the preferable hipster demographic whose access to the beach as been aided by extended and shockingly consistent bus service from the gentrified nabes of Brooklyn and burgeoning gentrifying nabes in northwest Queens with the Q35 and now with the new ferries in an area. Not even disclosed by Gateway or even on the organizers bland website for the money pissing bargain of $200 or $250 dollars a night, you can rent a tent on the sand with encroaching and unpredictable tides and sleep in a queen size bed with rugs and furniture. Amenities include continental breakfast, campfires, use of bicycles, actual butler service and s’mores.

This is not only insane, no, this is only insane. And lookie here, some of these sponsors have actually done event work in the Hamptons.

I have a line for the existence and the mental malaise and utter willful insensitivity that inspires this creativity and that is “this is why Trump is president”. It takes some new significance considering that he dedicated his presidential salary to the national parks dept. which are dwarfed by the looming cuts in next year’s fiscal budget. Although to be fair, this glamping thing has apparently been going on for a while, even under Figurehead Obama. So chalk up another lame contribution and rotten asset from the former first black president.

While this is going on, how are they going to secure the grounds? Will extra security in the form of state police and park rangers be deployed there as personal security or will these event planning assholes have their own security contractors? Especially since the “guests” will be there all night. What about lifeguards, which are already understaffed throughout the Rockaways?

And of course, there is the major concern about the forces of nature. As mentioned before, this is the windiest part of the beach and the waters here are hazardous even during the day.

Being that it will be there for a month, who knows what will happen and what kind of environment it will be for other visitors to Fort Tilden or even east at Riis. But this concept is so ludicrous and so similar to criminal abomination of the Frye Festival that it’s destined to fail as well. But the fact that money and effort is being spent like this to change the outlook of a public beach is just horrendous, immature and spiteful.

I guess the natural gas pipeline that was dropped into the ocean a few years ago is not paying any dividends, for it was actually the only new infrastructure that was installed in the last few years. And the classic bathhouses and former diner and lodge on the Riis boardwalk has not got any buyers yet and is now basically a piss room for people waiting for the bus to arrive.

This is just another sign of the times. It’s the bastardization of doing something normal and routine like enjoying a day at the beach and trying to make a gross profit from it and trying to disenfranchise people of that vibe. There is really no need for these entrepreneurs or “creators” and “makers” as they lamely think of themselves. For they are not contributing anything to these locations and are forcing these lifestyles on people. Especially the motherfucking sponsors of terraglamping, one of many heinous portmanteaus foisted on this revolting zeitgeist from the sharing economy. These people continue to get rejected, mocked and reviled by the citizenry and they still persist.

The message can’t be more transparent, they need to get the fuck out for the good of society and humankind.

Ghost Ship Warehouse-Hipster’s Altamont

Oakland, California

The interior of this place was unbelievable. Or unfathomable. But mostly it was criminal. It was as some of it’s patrons called it, a work of art itself. Since art is in the eye of the beholder, I think it looked like a filthy attic. This  deathtrap tinderbox was run by a delusional, selfish and greedy couple and was apparently some kind of cultural mecca airbnb for struggling and successful artists and a record label specializing in EDM music. There were living and working quarters that resembled a barnyard version of a floor at WeWork. There were trailers on the first floor (!), a makeshift maze which made it difficult to escape and pallets for stairs which served as the only means for escape from the massive flames, which certainly collapsed under the weight of people trying to flee. There were antiquated old lamps, electric butane and oil and christmas tree lights strewn in certain places which may have triggered the blaze.

There is an investigation proceeding and 33 are dead and counting. There have been various complaints and warnings to the proprietors, Derrick Ion and his wife Micah Allison that were met with abject refusal and mockery, two idiots who clearly spent all the money they made from illegal rentals and saved stealing electricity to design their hoarder’s paradise than to buy a regulation sprinkler system or even fire extinguishers . The landlords Chor and daughter Eva Ng, denied people were living there, which makes their complicity in this more concrete. Supposedly there were a hundred revelers, even kids, partying there which was suppose to be a launching party for a tour for that record label. Since summer festival season has ended a while back, it’s highly likely that these “musical” “artists” are probably playing in venues similar to this one in addition to genuine niteclubs that follow fire codes.

This reminds me of an incident decades ago in the Bronx. It was called the Happy Land Social Club, it was filled over capacity and was torched by some jilted boyfriend whose ex happened to be working there. Over 80 people perished because of that lowlife and the total lack of fire exits. It also reminded me, considering the mind blowing stupidity of the aforementioned art entrepreneurs, of the Great White concert disaster over 10 years ago, where that crappy band thought it was a grand idea to set 0ff pyrotechnics in a small indoor venue with exposed insulation on the ceiling.

This also reminded me immediately of the Millenial mindset. Which real estate barons and city and state governments are trying to please at the detriment of middle class and working poor people at the expense of the towns they reside in. Which Derrick Ion subscribes to and ultimately exploited to enrich himself and to shirk his responsibilities. Here’s what this douche had to say when he first learned of the tragedy:

The only thing confirmed is what a scumbag this hipster is. And that he finds opulence in garbage collecting.

If there is a significant comparison being that this mutant hybrid warehouse, settlement and art gallery is the concert at Altamont. It doesn’t have as high a bodycount but because of poor planning and bad judgement it symbolically ended the hippie counter-culture.

Hopefully this generation of artists will finally wake up and realize the dangers of hooking up with scum like this and start being less self-involved and self-serving and aware of the environment around them. But judging by the lengths cities go to attract this demographic in the past decade and the decline of edgy and quality art, film and music, I am not holding my breath.
