I Peace New York. What?
Piece of what?
You can’t mean P-E-A-C-E
Cause I’ve seen people on the streets
Shoot the next man and turn around and say peace

Manhattan
In Kips Bay at the Aser Levy Recreation Center, an mentally ill homeless man attacked two park police officers with a 2X4 and flung his arms and elbows at them resisting arrest after they tried to ask him to leave the building. The man previously threatened workers there with a knife and challenged the cops to arrest him by claiming he will return there regardless of trespassing charges against him. The rec center has been sidelined with lax security guards and the parks dept. as a whole with budget cuts to the parks police dept from under-staffing and old and incompatible patrol cars. This is an incredible story of city indifference and bueraucratic neglect of services and it’s harmful ramifications.
In the Fashion District, a man tossed a bottle at a parked police car and smashed the windshield. The culprit destroyed three other patrol cars, the last time using a chair, in the last week before he finally got arrested. Something just ain’t right about this, no one can just go around and vandalize police or even regular cars on a daily basis.
The real kick is that this area is one of the most massively populated parts of the city, it would be impossible for this guy not to get noticed destroying government property like Paul Newman did in the opening of Cool Hand Luke. And what the fuck is up with these people? Meaning commuters, shoppers and tourists, how do they miss this guy in the act, surely those windows are tough to break and requires a certain amount of time to destroy. And weren’t these windows suppose to be more fortified after the horrific murder of a police officer in the Bronx? (or was it just for the command post vehicles?)
The main obvious thing is the slow reaction of the NYPD, who are quick to be deployed for mass protests against economic fascists, systematic abusers of authority and entrenched government corruption and of course after a terrorist attack or attempt, no matter where it took place or even if it’s a confirmed threat, took a procrastinating response to this violent mentally ill vandal.
What happened to “broken windows”? Well, now you got real ones, not hypothetical ones.
What’s the answer then? The cynical consensus might presume it’s too keep crime stats or the population at Rikers down. Or maybe that these certifiable lunatics roaming around are mascots in the theme park of New Fun City 2.0.

And now I’m trying to break the mold
So stop the dominoes
Because I think it’s about time that everyone knows

Somebody screwed up the diction
You might die looking for the right definition
Cause “peace” nowadays means “gun,” or “gotta run”
30 years from now we’ll wonder how the younger generation got foul
Look at what we teach them today
Peace is not the word to play
Staten Island
