Twitter V. The NY Post, The Public Interest And The Unalienable Right To Know

Let October 14th 2020 go down in history as the day when censorship became policy by a monopolistic social media monolith.

It started off rather innocuously. The New York Post published the long awaited but already well known and confirmed story of presidential candidate Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden’s pay to play corruption to obscenely enrich himself, his father and an energy company in Ukraine who hired him and paid him over 80 grand a month through email messages procured from a laptop Hunter (or someone close to him) carelessly left behind at a computer repair shop. This expose’ instantly debunked Joe’s persistent claims that he never had contact with any executive from the foreign company Hunter worked for and exposed how the vice president abused his position and duties to get a prosecutor fired in Ukraine that was investigating corruption inside the company Hunter worked for. Which Biden defiantly bragged about doing when he answered a question during a forum on foreign policy only 2 years ago.

The NY Post followed this up with a flurry of other stories of Hunter Biden using his relation to the second most powerful person in America at the time to acquire more wealth and influence for the companies and acquaintances he associated with. Which were immediately available on the NY Post’s social media accounts…

And then at 2:20 in the afternoon, it stopped.

Like a new age tech version of Paul Revere (and also Benedict Arnold as this post will go on to show), some establishment Democrat Party apparatchik asshole from Facebook blabbed that Zuckerberg’s social network was going to limit the distribution of various stories of the Biden expose’ by manipulating the links to them, then Jack Dorsey’s social network went full bore and eliminated access to the NY Post links entirely and locked the nation’s oldest newspaper access to the platform by claiming that the information was acquired was previously hacked even though Hunter’s email file was only removed physically from the hard drive and not internally through the internet. Other high profile casualties of twitter’s memory hole tactic were President Trump’s Press Secretary  Kayleigh McEnany and President Trump’s second daughter Tiffany,  suspending their accounts for tweeting the links. Twitter also brazenly told Kayleigh to remove her tweets about the NY Post stories to regain her account with them, basically using extortion against a high profile government official to get what they want.

What Jack Dorsey’s Twitter’s suppression of the Biden stories did was the equivalent of a mass shooting by making the NY Post and every other corporate run and independent news source and the general public and their rights to read the news and be informed and decide for themselves whats false or true the biggest casualties of all. The lunacy of this initiative to suppress the links is as if it was a normal thing to do and they expected no repercussions from it. It demonstrates, no, verifies that Twitter has a censorship policy and will utilize it when it sees fit. And in this case it’s to protect Joe Biden and his campaign for the presidency.

But what makes this suppression of the fourth estate from this private corporation glaringly horrific and basically stupid is that Twitter is technically violating their own policies. From it’s claims that the emails were hacked even though Hunter’s email files was only removed physically from the hard drive and not through the internet. Twitter made their revisionist vetting and crass decision of voiding the links of the NY Post stories by placing a story provided by Washington Post that purports to debunk the meeting Hunter arranged with the Burisma partner and his dad at the top of their trending column in spite of the NY Post’s published message confirming that arrangement.

Basically, all this showed was that Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos confirmed Biden didn’t have a prosecutor fired to save Hunter from getting indicted, showing tech overlord solidarity for Trump’s immensely flawed and corrupted opponent. And because Twitter cannot shut everyone up because that would make them extinct, blue check and non-blue check twitter account holders consisting of elected officials, conservative and liberal pundits/laypersons and the Trump re-election campaign drones of course naturally pounced on the banishment of the NY Post links, posting screenshots of the articles as the paper of record were dishing out updates to the Biden scandals.

As expected when the Bezos Post article trend didn’t have the result he desired to legitimize Twitter’s censorship , @jack resurfaced via a tweet and meekly described what his company did as unacceptable after a Senator excoriated him and his company for the “unacceptable” action they took to ban the links.

Jack’s digital mea culpa was obviously not sincere, which should be flagged itself for being misleading content going by Twitter regulations. And to confirm how full of shit he was, what happened hours later after his tweet would magnify then justify even more suspicions about his social networking platform’s agenda driven tactics. Hours before Biden and Trump were about to take questions from “undecided” voters in town halls that were on precisely the same time at 8 p.m., Twitter suddenly had a breakdown. Then as the debates town halls began, it remained down for a considerable amount of time making tweeting comments about Trump and Biden impossible.

Twitter’s announcement/spin that there was a problem with their internal systems was fishy, considering that only some regions were affected by the blackout, mostly in the blue state Northeast coast and California. Which explains that although you couldn’t tweet about Trump or Biden, the platform was still available and trends were still updating, including the damning #TwitterCensorship. Other noticeable things after the twitter blackout ended were what was trending during the town halls because for some reason, nah, for obvious reason #BidenTownHall was trending and available more readily than #TrumpTownHall.

Considering what Jack and Twitter decided to do the day before, it strains credulity that this blackout was a technical breakdown. Considering how they were capable of manufacturing consent by purposely blocking links, how inconceivable would it be that Twitter wouldn’t manufacture a shutdown?

Coincidentally, ninety minutes after Trump’s town hall ended and 90 minutes after Biden’s town hall ended. Twitter’s spokeslady tweeted a damage control thread about their new guidelines regarding stories stemming from hacked materials (which they themselves got wrong) and redoing their labeling of tweets Twitter deems harmful or false or harmfully false.

Despite this feeble attempt of self-regulating reform of their news distribution policies, twitter is still blocking the NY Post’s account from posting tweets of their latest stories that aren’t Biden related! And won’t take the paper out of twitter jail until they refrain from posting the Bidens’ scandal stories. But for all intents and purposes, it seems like Twitter is extorting the NY Post to prevent them from doing any more stories about the Bidens to get their social media distribution abilities back. But like first strike at suppressing news stories, it’s still not going to stop people from posting the most incriminating information about a presidential candidate since, well, Hillary Clinton 4 years ago. But @jack and his twitter arbiters would not know of this concept because they were barely out of diapers or even in their daddy’s sperm when Tipper Gore wanted to label Metal and Rap records for their content and their hands were still being held when Barbara Striesand tried to accomplish something similar by stopping the press from distributing pics of her mansion, leading to a mass influx of gawkers.

Twitter’s ghoulish and fascistic ban on the NY Post is not only trying to normalize censorship but is also further normalizing manufacturing consent by being able to do it faster than what the old former big 4 networks did before the internet because of the technology and talent they have. The wretched thing is that the signs of this new normalization of tech censorship were already brazenly being implemented for years but it was a passive aggressive form of censorship when they when @jack and twitter were shadowbanning conservative people an their views from being disseminated. And it got legitimized by Zuckerbergs Facebook only a few months ago when they decided to ban QAnon advocates and their views and theories from their platform.

But what makes Twitter’s censorship an established part of our society now is that it has quite a large base of supporters. Who are quick to defend @jack’s policies because they like who and what views and ideas are being suppressed. And now with Biden, with the President they collectively despise. And these people also work in the same medium with the NY Post, being journalism. Their fervor for Twitter’s unacceptable actions and ad hominem attacks against the NY Post and the Biden expose’ is just as rancorous as those who unquestionably support the police despite the systemic rot that is plaguing them regarding brutality, bias and oppression against protesters.

Most disturbingly worrisome of all, the New Twitter’s biggest supporter right now is Joe Biden, who already feels he’s absolved of his unethical and immoral abuse of his position while he was VP because of the de-platforming of his son’s transgressions of exploiting his dad as leverage to acquire millions of dollars while he was jetsetting to foreign nations on our tax dollars. When a reporter asked Uncle Joe about his son’s emails, he viciously blew it off as a smear. Biden has been belligerent with reporters before and also with people who questioned his policies and ethics in his 47 year career as an elected official and vice president, but Twitter’s banishment of the NY Post and their stories of his fucked up son’s sordid quid pro quo deals with corporations and nations that Joe enabled and played a proactive partner with him with his threat to withhold aid money to the Ukrainian government has clearly emboldened him to chastise journalists in the same manner that President Trump does with his fake news tropes against them.

What @jack and Twitter (and Facebook) did laid the prospect and also basically assured that they would not only be hardcore arbiters of any news story that gets placed on their platform but will also be a dutiful news media apparatus for the Biden/Harris administration, whether about policies foreign and domestic, standard insider gossip, constructive criticism, standard and vitriolic opinions and even satires and memes and most essentially any alleged corruption in the White House. Or corruption involving Hunter.

Despite the pathetic way Twitter has modified their guidelines, by extorting the NY Post from getting their account back, their guidelines and regulations they made are still violations of the unalienable right to know and a violation of the right to information itself. Sure journalists and publications will still be able to report the news, but the people who use these platforms will be stopped from deciding to see them and make their own conclusions about them. And they are expected to accept that.

And they will continue violating your right to know. Because twitter knows better than you and should have the unalienable right to determine what you should know.

Now that’s what really is unsafe and truly unacceptable, @jack.
