The stupid Mayor of New York City looking over the city while overlooking the crises escalating in his final months in office. The lenses in that thing are rose-colored.

The Blaz got a little cranky during his media availability on the day it was reported  that shootings went up nearly 170% in the month of April, along with a 30% rise in overall crime, coming off multiple days when total shootings passed the double digits. Despite arrests for guns that exceeded the percentage of bullets flying in the streets, the NYPD’s dogged efforts to ameliorate gun violence and salvage de Blasio’s recovery for all of us for him have been underwhelming.

And despite the NYPD’s concerted effort to stop bias violence against Asian people, it continues to happen on a daily basis. While sexual assaults and rapes that went up over 320% from last yearand the continuing rise of auto theft and burglaries continue to get overlooked.

Subway violence also continues to be a consistent scourge as ridership has not gone up as expected because of commuters legitimate fears of being victimized of random attacks or muggings, despite the statistical dip in crimes and a deployment of 500 cops on the rails and The Blaz’s incessant and incredible assurances of how safe the subway is as he desperately cites the total stats in defiance of the facts underground. Mentally ill vagrants neglected by de Blasio’s administration also continue to play a factor in low ridership, which the longest interim NYC Transit president Sarah Feinberg had to prove herself by riding the uptown express train occupied by a disheveled man yelling for no reason at no one in particular.

Responses to all of these crises have been defiantly dismissed by The Blaz, some are even obnoxiously obtuse. Like when a woman called Brian Lehrer’s ask the mayor segment on his show and vividly and shakenly described a gang related shooting that happened on her block as she and her daughter dodged bullets after they stepped out of her car steps away from their home, the Blaz reverted to his city recovery and revisionist pandemic history talking points, which he also did when a tourist got shot by a hotel in Midtown west. The only action the Blaz has taken is to remake and remodel a gun violence reduction program from last summer that didn’t make a dent at all when it was implemented.

With this crime wave troika of gun, subway and xenophobic violence, the Blaz continues to look to and rely on a convenient nemesis he calls the Perfect Storm of COVID, even though all this crazy shit is happening during his recovery for all of us. The only perfect storm that is devastating this city is his daily hurricane of lame excuses.

Brooklyn

Evidence is pictured after a shooting on Montauk Avenue and New Lots Avenue in Brooklyn, New York on Monday night.

This was found on the street except a child’s artistic expression in chalk

In Bed-Stuy, a five-year-old girl got struck on her head by a stray bullet while she was about to draw on the sidewalk with chalk as a man emptied his clip firing in her direction down the block and missed his target. It took a month to catch the perp and a judge wisely levied a bail for 100 large on him.

Also in Bed-Stuy, a man got into a shootout with cops on the grounds of the Sumner Houses.

Again in Bed Stuy, a man got shot to death in a fusillade of bullets inside a stairwell in apartment building at the Tompkins Houses.

And again in Bed-Stuy, a man got shot in the shoulder inside a parking lot.

And again in Bed-Stuy, a man shot another man while he was sitting in a parked car.

And again in Bed-Stuy, a 12-year-old boy got shot in the chest while standing on the street and getting caught in the crossfire between two gangs blasting at each other. The victim’s grandmother describes the streets in the once ballyhooed by the gentrification industrial complex media apparatus as a hot town as kill or be killed environment.

And again in Bed-Stuy, a man rolled up to a 17-year-old girl on his bicycle and punched her in the face, robbed her wallet and rolled away.

And again in Bed-Stuy, a woman walked into a bodega and destroyed a surveillance video monitor after a worker refused to give her money and then threw a mop at him after she bizarrely requested to open the store’s ATM machine. When the cops arrived to detain her, she ripped a wiper from a patrol car and then challenged the cops to taze her, which they did as she tried to flee but those shitty weapons had no effect on her. She was subsequently charged and released without bail (of course).

In Brownsville, a man went to a birthday party for his and his girlfriend’s 9 year-old daughter at her apartment and then he shot her and her two daughters to death using two guns as his daughter hid in a closet and watched the mass murder happen while peeking through the door while managing to call 911. The man then went outside and committed suicide by shooting himself a few blocks away from the slaughter. The man previously served an 8 year sentence for shooting a man to death who was trying to break up a fight involving his relatives on a Halloween night when he was 18 years old.

Also in Brownsville, at the Livonia Ave. Station, a man committed suicide by jumping in front of the arriving L train.

And again in Brownsville, a man got pulled over by the cops for speeding and then he hit the gas as a police lieutenant was about to question him and dragged him on the street going in reverse and escaped. The gangbanger had a good reason to jet being a murder suspect for a killing in Queens 3 months earlier.

After nearly killing a police officer, he continued to show his appreciation to the state for letting him bounce without bail despite the attempted murder charge and also the city for recent charges for a robbery he committed, as the bastard  broke into a house of a 66-year-old woman in Edgemere and attempted to hide out there. He then walked to the beach and found a luxury car parked by nearby luxury towers as the owner left it running and jumped inside and stole it and tried but got caught by Nassau P.D. going to his father’s house to hide out.

Again in East Flatbush, a young man got shot in the leg while crossing the boulevard and another young man got shot in the chest on the street less than a 1/8 mile away and another young man got shot a man in the stomach about a 1/4 mile away from that shooting. In Sheepshead Bay, a crazed man grabbed a bouquet of flowers and flung them into the street and then he shoved a 77-year-old man to the pavement as he was shopping for produce. Also in Sheepshead Bay, four men jumped a man as he was walking home and one of the thugs stuck him up at gunpoint, then they took his keys and stole his car and drove it to Jamaica and abandoned it there. In Bushwick, two men on a street corner got shot at from a man riding on the back of a motorcycle driven by his accomplice.

In Park Slope, where Mayor de Blasio owns two low-taxed homes, a woman ran up behind her ex-girlfriend and shot her point blank at the back of her head as she was about to walk into a bodega. The victim collapsed on the corner and died instantly. The shooter’s motive reportedly stemmed from an abusive relationship with the victim.

Cops deployed to monitor a protest arrived and chased the perp, who horribly ditched his gun by a pile of trash during the pursuit, and arrested him around the corner from the incident. The perp was found to be on the loose avoiding warrants for armed robberies he committed with his brother in North Carolina.

A bike agitprop blog commanded by a intolerant bike zealot gentrifier from Brooklyn, his few minion followers on the bike blogs comment thread and two journalists from Gothamist hilariously have accused the NYPD of orchestrating this sabotage even though Amazon Prime delivery service has laid predominance over all retail on the city. Especially in high rent tower pestilence plagued Northwest Brooklyn. Wonder why they refuse to put the onus on a tech monopoly that has usurped retail shopping, killed small businesses and notorious for overworking and dehumanizing their employees?

L O fucking L…

And being a fucking moron, I’ll do this even though I also possess a full banana clip. I will preface doing all this stupid shit by posting a video flashing a fan of money and then walking on the streets saying how much I hate New York City.

Then I will come up with a weak ass defense claiming that I didn’t know what New York’s gun laws were, assuming that possessing and toting a military grade hand held war machine in an urban area (or anywhere) is normal.  Enjoy Rikers kid while it’s still there.

Just for one day, there was someone dumber in NYC besides Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Abandon hope all ye who enter here

On the last New Bad Days post, Mayor de Blasio was questioned by CBS New York’s Marcia Kramer about the undeniable subway violence crisis that has gripped the city and flat out denied it, while using his talent with words to passively aggressively insinuate that she was fomenting fear and reinforcing lies. And in the process of that response, told thousands of commuters that they were only imagining the proliferation of random attacks, street fighting, muggings and even attacks on police officers that were occurring and accounted on the news and social media postings.

The arrogant mayor mused aloud:

“We had an incredible and total disruption in 2020. Our entire lives were turned upside down, a global pandemic, a perfect storm – and we are in the process of overcoming that,”

Exactly a week later, the unthinkable, mostly to the willfully disconnected mind of The Blaz, happened in the most horrific and bloodiest weekend on mass transit in decades.

In Far Rockaway at the Mott Ave. Station, a man was found dead on the A train  with stab wounds all over his neck and chest, looking like he was slaughtered while he was sleeping on the seats. Hours later in Inwood at the 207th Station, a woman was also butchered to death on the A train. Both murders tragically took place at the last stops of the A line.

Other bloody random attacks occurred prior and after the slaughters at the 181 St. Station in Washington Heights on the same A transit line. Just before noon, a disabled 67-year-old homeless man got stabbed twice by a man on the platform when his assailant announced he was going to kill him and another man got stabbed twice while he was sleeping on the stairwell. Both victims survived.

All of the victims were homeless.

The killer, dubbed the “A Train Ripper” by the NY Post (which didn’t catch on) and got arrested later in the early evening after a massive NYPD deployment when cops found him on the street covered in blood and possessing a 6-inch knife with the handle wrapped in a bandanna. The man confessed to both homicides and the 2 other random attacks

https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2021/02/1.jpg?quality=90&strip=all&w=300

Like his victims, the culprit was also homeless and living in a shelter in Gowanus. He was also mentally disturbed and had prior arrests, recently when he was caught on the streets possessing a knife and baggies of cocaine last October. A few days before the random attacks and office, the city gave him a housing voucher and he visited his sister in Washington Heights to help him move, but went on a homicidal violent rage for in a 12 hour span on the A train instead.

Despite safety net aid from the city and many chances from his family, the culprit could not be saved. And his victims as well, for they chose to chance sleeping on the subway instead of city shelters, on the general presumption that they are safer down there.

After much outcry, confirmed and established fears from commuters and kin of the victims of subway violence, and the expected overdue reaction to only respond to an emergency when deaths occur, de Blasio finally ordered the NYPD to deploy 644 cops to the transit system even if in the deep recesses of his mind he still believes all these attacks are only anecdotes. But it’s not just him. The longest interim president (or interim president of anything) of NYC Transit “Train Nanny” Sarah Feinberg still proclaims the subway is still safe to use and like the Blaz, accused local news of hyperbole in their coverage of the chaos on the rails and platforms that are scaring commuters into riding bikes and driving cars instead, even though she believes and has demanded that the subway needs a thousand more cops to make commuting safe again.

It’s this duplicity exhibited by both the Mayor and Feinberg that will not ameliorate  the random and intentional acts of violence underground and on the Els nor will it instill confidence amongst citizens to bring subway ridership back to even a quarter of pre-pandemic levels. Not to mention to continuing perpetual failure of the city’s homeless and mental health services  that’s another long sorry ass story).

But at least we can pay the fare with our cellphones…

The safest part of the safest big city

Commissioner Dermot Shea announced that over 400 guns were taken off the street in January in a month where shootings went up 20% compared to last year. While not mentioning bail reform by name, Shea claimed 90% of people arrested for gun possession wound up back on the streets as they await weeks for court hearings for their offenses. Unfortunately, six shootings that occurred during a two day blizzard nearly finds his theory credible.

The NYC Transit President Sarah Feinberg announced that heroin junkies are discarding their syringes and rubber ties on the track beds and platforms uptown to downtown and condemned the continuing malaise of mentally ill people attacking commuters and killing themselves on the subway and the urgent need for a bigger NYPD presence on the platforms and by the metrocard machines and token booths. Don’t know if that letter ever made it to the Blaz, but the Transit Police Chief dismissed Ms. Feinberg’s concern and claimed that subway crime was suitably low considering the amount of commuters being victimized by random acts of senseless violence every day.

Commissioner Shea also soberly acknowledged the frequent random attacks that’s been happening all over the transit system and lamented about a recent assault by a mentally ill man he was already familiar with.  But when Marcia Kramer asked The Blaz during his “media availability” about the crisis going on in the subway he brazenly lied to her and contradicted everything Shea has been saying as he was sitting on the dais with him. Then the Blaz brazenly accused Ms. Kramer of lying and fear mongering. So if you are a commuter, the only thing separating you from having a safe commute is de Blasio’s toxic hubris.

But if Transit President Feinberg is still waiting for a response, if she wants to know where the cops are being deployed as our subways devolve into a subterranean jungle, de Blasio’s and Shea’s NYPD has been policing more urgent matters like adding 200 cops to the battalion guarding the U.S. Capitol and the White House at President Biden’s inauguration; sending hundreds of cops to wall off protesters walking by City Hall and sending a militia of cops to a workers strike at Hunts Point and having two cops dressed as Cobra Commandos guarding the Charging Bull by Wall St. after a wiseguy put tape with Gamestop stock agitprop on the bulls’ head, taint and balls.

So NYC citizens, the only thing separating you from having a safe commute everyday is de Blasio’s toxic hubris.

This plunder is the latest incident of several lootings of high end stores in the area going back to June, when a  critical mass of thieves broke into stores one evening during a city curfew sparked by the Black Lives Matter protests that was decreed by Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio. And like that crime spree, the recent looting at Chanel involved rental cars being used for getaways and an underwhelming response by the NYPD compared to the amount of cops being sent to protests;  especially by the Strategic Response Unit, which probably would be more useful against organized crime than organized protests.

In Greenwich Village, three women jumped another woman from behind and one of them hit on her on the head with a glass bottle and stole her cellphone.

Even though the protesters were following the NYPD’s instructions, a riot ensued and led to 29 people arrested and 10 cops injured when a bunch of protesters fought back.

Even though the NYPD were suddenly the focus of NY State AG James with her recent lawsuit against the city for their violently illegal, dubiously arbitrary and unconstitutional response and brutality against participants in BLM protests last June, because of the insurrection of the U.S. Capitol on January 6 2021, a federal order was instituted that all government buildings in America were under blanket authoritative protection, which Mayor de Blasio eagerly cited to justify the militaristic deployment and oppression. Then they stripped his pants and britches off him and left him in a bloody pulp with his genitals exposed. They also stole his cellphone.

The gang dispersed as fast as they arrived; for they all showed up to the charter bus top via text by a relative of theirs who was beaten and robbed by their victim, who was revealed to be a gang member, when they both got on the bus that departed from Atlanta en route to NYC. The gangbanger stuck him up inside the bus and along with an accomplice (who did not accompany him the rest of the trip) and robbed the man’s watch, sneakers and jacket he happened to be wearing until the high-tech lynching on Canal St.  his victim surreptitiously arranged with his relatives on a cellphone he borrowed from another passenger. The man and three of his relatives turned themselves in to the authorities and claimed self-defense for the retribution in this incredible story of gang violence and tech weaponizing.

In Brownsville, the superintendent of a NYCHA building strangled an 78-year-old woman to death with a telephone cord after he visited her demanding to get paid for a favor he did for her and got caught by the cops after he used her debit card to buy a sandwich at a bodega nearby the Woodson Houses.

The 66-year-old man was also found to committing two other murders of elderly women that lived in the building he worked in at the Woodson Houses who he also hassled for money for favors. He stabbed an 82-year-old woman in the neck with a steak knife inside her apartment back in 2015 that was initially filed as a death by natural causes by authorities until the wound was found by a coroner at the funeral home that was handling her corpse. Four years later, he savagely beat an 83-year-old woman to death in her apartment by stomping on her neck. He was suspected for her murder but was let go because the DNA tracings he left behind were inconclusive because of how frequently visited her.

While the lethal handyman never got caught for murder, he was a recidivist criminal that was still allowed to live in a public housing building despite strict regulations against tenants piling up a criminal record. Notably when he faked a car crash with two other people to rip off an insurance company for $150,000. Now the family of his recent murder victim is suing NYCHA for $25,000,000 for not having a sufficient amount of security cameras in the building, which stems from complaints of other tenants for almost a decade and summarized by the rise of killings and shootings on NYCHA properties in the last two years.

The kook was finally sentenced with $100,000 bail. The half-measured monitoring by the NYPD led a Samaritan to organize a group to accompany women commuting to their homes.

While not listed here, bike theft went up by 27%, coinciding  with the rise of bike commuting because of fears of getting infected with coronavirus using mass transit.

Even  though there is controversy about the effects the states bail reform laws have had on the uptick of these crimes along and edicts allowing the release of convicts to stem the spread of contagion in prisons because of the pandemic; regarding the gun violence crisis, over 3,000 criminals were set loose without bail after being found in possession of guns and recidivism continued to thrive with these perpetrators because of the flaws in the new law.

While the pandemic has had an effect on crime, being that the streets have been more deserted in the day and darker at night because everything is locked down, it is only more illuminated now because felonies have been rising steadily for the last 5 years before a novel virus invaded the five boroughs. While the Mayor of New York City continues to evade these horrific upticks after years of bragging how he ran the safest big city in the world, the reality on the streets and what’s seen by his constituents tell different stories. Stories that will be told by more citizens since poorly written laws and a stunning lack of city services continue to mount in 2021 without sensible modifications or a scintilla of leadership as a disease continues it’s predominant omniscience over the five boroughs.

But all the Blaz wants to do is dance.

The gang of bike riders continued their scofflaw sojourn up 5th avenue where they ran the red at 23rd st, blocking right of way vehicle traffic on a two way street. Then a few of them grabbed onto a BMW cruiser by the door handles so they can accelerate and one of them fell on their face when the driver slowed down and stopped his car. Then the gang surrounded the vehicle and threw and smashed their bikes on it and tore the mirrors off it while some of the boys kicked and punched and tried to force open the vehicle while threatening the driver and horrifying his 70-year-old mother inside. One boy did a flying head butt onto the hood and another boy jumped on the hood twice and kicked and smashed the windshield.

Besides the fact that what went on here and what these kids engaged in was blatant wanton lawlessness which conveyed collective contempt and zero empathy for other people, the pressing question here is where was the NYPD’s Strategic Response Unit bike militia to repress this anarchy that made such a display of predominance at the last public assembly demonstrations only a few months ago after Election Day?

Jamaica Avenue’s Million Dollar Pit Of Despair And Graffiti

Richmond Hill, Queens, New York

On the day after the six-alarm fire that destroyed the homes above storefronts in Richmond Hill and taking pics of the charred windows on the buildings, strolling about 8 blocks east by Lefferts Blvd. there exists this unsightly gated wall protruding on the sidewalk next to a barber shop and a ministry. I call it a gated wall because it’s secured with a lock and chain.

Unfortunately the wall itself wasn’t as resilient. As evident by this unsightly and hazardous profusion. Which is easily accessible to passerby, especially children.

It wasn’t hard to deduce what happened here. Apparently a bunch of graffiti artists were looking for a convenient venue to bomb and also are coming strapped with axes along with their aerosol paint cans.

Just some standard tagging, no offense to the artists oevure. Also standard but more varietal was the detritus strewn on the platform of the spacious lot, with a piece of the breached wall lying askew on a shoddily structured fence.

I wish I can recall what used to be here, most likely a mixed use building probably with a restaurant. It also looks like it was recently razed because there are no indicators of new development being done here going by the absence of NYC Department of Building placards. It also looks like this wall has been in this condition for a few weeks now, including that gaping jaggered maw.

The only indication that this pit belongs to anyone is the one sign affixed to the wall on it’s east side. A company named Signature Premier Properties is advertising their company and website on this open and blighted space.

With some sleuthing on the duckduckgo and that monopoly search engine, this premier property with quite the sordid history was put up for sale about 3 weeks ago a few days before Thanksgiving. And Signature PP is asking $999,000 for it.

I cannot fathom why they decided to cut a grand off the price more than how they came to this ostentatious value. Maybe it’s because of it’s current status as an “unimproved land” that didn’t qualify for the rounded out million. But advertising the property as “convenient to all!” certainly exacerbated it’s unimproved condition of the lot with all that vandalism and pollution.

Apparently as the recent picture shows, they had to improve and fortify the property post haste  and it shows with this incredibly cheap upgrade. Which includes a new “gate”. This looks like the handiwork of dustheads squatting in an foreclosed home and is not up to the standards of anthropomorphic cartoon animals.

Conspicuously absent from the repurposed wall is Signature’s ad sign…

And if Signature PP or whoever owns this pit think this is going to stop rival taggers from getting in they are sadly mistaken. A crowbar or even a $1.99 Trisonic flathead screwdriver that you can get from the nearest 99 cent stores can easily pry those planks down or even a good rain to loosen them up for a tae kwon do superkick.

Usually the default reaction/response to scenes like this is to refer it as another definitive sign to what a shitty year 2020 is (and it is the worst year in this young century); but this is Queens and scenes like this have been always been manifest. And none more than on the southern and eastern sides of the borough far from tony Brooklyn and Manhattan and the interests of elected officials, which includes even the ones who represent the districts here.

It’s only amplified even more because of the pandemic and people either have no time to care or using as an excuse not to be concerned. But the thing that makes this blighted eyesore worse is that it actually has a value on it. Urban decay is being marketed and sold as a luxury product.

There will be a buyer for this shithole just like there are buyers for a wall with a banana being held by duct tape and Mark David Chapman’s autographed copy of Double Fantasy he got signed after he killed the artist who created it. But for now, this unimproved land belongs to the taggers, hooligans, homeless and anyone else who dares to enter. Or break and enter into there. But at least the residents of Richmond Hill and the borough of Queens can take a scintilla of pride knowing that they are walking in the presence of opulence.

Even though it’s speculated and fabricated…
